Liverpool faces a significant concern regarding Federico Chiesa’s injury as Arne Slot encounters new transfer challenges.

Liverpool is alerted to a major injury concern involving Federico Chiesa, as Arne Slot encounters new complications in the transfer market.

This summer, Liverpool acquired Federico Chiesa from Juventus, with Arne Slot anticipating that the Italian winger would create competition for Mohamed Salah.

Currently, Liverpool’s squad is engaged in international duty following a strong start to the season.

Slot’s team boasts a flawless record, having secured three consecutive wins in the Premier League without conceding a single goal.

However, one player yet to make an impact for the Reds is the newly signed Federico Chiesa.

The Italian joined Anfield for a reported fee of £12.5 million after losing his place at Juventus.

Chiesa’s addition seems to be a strategic move, enhancing Liverpool’s attacking options. Nevertheless, his history of injuries raises concerns, as highlighted by recent findings from Sporting Post.

The 26-year-old has averaged 95.6 days sidelined due to injury each season, which is at least a week longer than any other player in the Liverpool squad.

This trend is underscored by Chiesa’s limited appearances, with only 10 matches for Juventus across all competitions last season and just 18 in the 2021/22 season.

Following him in injury days is center-back Ibrahima Konate, who averages 88.8 days out, while forward Diogo Jota ranks third.

In contrast, the least injury-prone players include Wataru Endo, who has only missed an average of 12.8 days, and Alexis Mac Allister, with 15.4 days.

To mitigate future injury risks, Stephen Smith, CEO of Kitman Labs, has suggested potential solutions.

His company specializes in sports science and performance intelligence, collaborating with the Premier League and numerous other sports organizations.

“We typically can’t isolate a single variable and proclaim that it’s the lone contributing factor,” he stated in an interview with the Manchester Evening News last May.

“If we want the answer, we need to ask the real question. It’s not ‘what’s the main cause,’ it’s what do we know or understand about the contributing factors that led to.”

Understanding the activities of athletes, their recovery processes, movement patterns, and sleep quality is crucial.

Furthermore, it involves gaining insights into each athlete’s unique strength and fitness profile.

This comprehensive approach enables the tracking, monitoring, and quantification of various factors, allowing for the identification of patterns that may precede injuries.

Such knowledge empowers clubs to make informed decisions in the future and to apply these insights effectively in managing their athletes.

Injuries pose a significant challenge for Chiesa and several other players at Liverpool.

Below is a list of Liverpool’s players ranked by their injury susceptibility, detailing the average number of days they are sidelined each season.
