Liverpool has been advised to pursue a £65.5m ‘match winner’ from Real Madrid, recognized as ‘a wonderful talent,’ should Mo Salah leave the club.

Liverpool has been encouraged to pursue the acquisition of a £65.5 million ‘match winner’ from Real Madrid, who has been characterized as ‘a wonderful talent,’ in the event that Mo Salah leaves the club.

Danny Murphy has pinpointed the Real Madrid forward that Liverpool manager Arne Slot should consider targeting in the summer of 2025, while also suggesting three Premier League players who could potentially step into Salah’s role.

Salah is regarded as one of the all-time greats and a true legend at Liverpool.

Throughout his tenure, the Egyptian forward has established himself as a prolific scorer, amassing 232 goals in 379 matches, along with 105 assists, contributing significantly to Liverpool’s triumphs in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

Fans hold Salah in high regard and hope for his contract to be extended. However, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, uncertainty looms over his future at Anfield.

Reports from TEAMtalk indicate that clubs in the Saudi Pro League are keen on signing Salah as a free agent in the summer of 2025, with Paris Saint-Germain also showing interest in acquiring the former Chelsea player.

In light of this potential departure, Liverpool is likely to explore options for replacements, and Murphy has recommended that the club target Real Madrid winger Rodrygo in the summer of 2025.

Murphy holds a strong admiration for the 24-year-old Brazilian, who has celebrated three La Liga titles and two Champions League victories since his £39.5m move to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2019.

When discussing potential European players to succeed Salah, Murphy shared his thoughts with OLBG: “If Liverpool were to seek a direct replacement for Mohamed Salah, my top recommendation would be Rodrygo from Real Madrid.

He possesses exceptional talent. While I’m not fully aware of his contract status in Madrid, I consider him a strong candidate due to his experience at the highest level and his success in recent Champions League campaigns.

“Although his statistics may not match Salah’s, he is undoubtedly a game-changer. He has the ability to outpace defenders and thrives in a high-pressure environment week in and week out.

“Moreover, with the abundance of talent at Real Madrid, there could be an opportunity for one of their players to depart. Therefore, he stands out as my primary choice.”

Murphy also identified other players who could potentially fill Salah’s shoes if he departs from Liverpool.

He pointed out Jarrod Bowen from West Ham United and Southampton’s promising young player Tyler Dibling, along with Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo as viable alternatives.

When asked about Premier League players who could effectively replace Salah, Murphy remarked: “Replacing the impact of Mohamed Salah will require more than one individual, and I see two clear candidates: Antoine Semenyo and Jarrod Bowen.

“I appreciate Semenyo’s abilities, but he may still need some development time, whereas Bowen has proven himself and is often West Ham’s standout performer when fit.

“He is an exceptional talent, though his age might be a consideration for Liverpool.

“If Liverpool could secure both Bowen and Tyler Dibling from Southampton, it would be an excellent move.”

“Dibling is a young, confident player who operates on the right flank, cutting in onto his left foot and taking on defenders.

I believe these two could significantly bolster Liverpool’s squad if Salah were to leave.

If he were to depart tomorrow and Liverpool acquired Bowen and Dibling, it would be a remarkable outcome.”
