Liverpool Update: Luis Diaz Contract Negotiations

Liverpool is set to pursue a long-term contract for Luis Diaz, aiming for a four-year extension following his impressive start to the season, according to sources from Football Insider.

Initially, the club was open to offers for the 27-year-old left-winger during the summer transfer window, but his outstanding performances have caught the attention of manager Arne Slot.

The Colombian international has made a remarkable start to the season, netting his second Premier League double in Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Bournemouth last Saturday.

Discussions are anticipated to begin between Diaz and the Premier League club regarding a new and enhanced contract to prolong his tenure at Anfield.

Although Diaz’s current contract runs until 2027, Liverpool is keen to secure his future with the club for the long term.

So far this season, the winger has scored five goals and provided one assist across six appearances in all competitions.

Diaz joined Liverpool in 2022 and has since made 104 appearances, contributing 29 goals and 14 assists.

During the summer transfer window, both Barcelona and PSG expressed interest in the left-winger, with Liverpool considering a sale if their £50 million asking price was met.

Liverpool also attempted to acquire Anthony Gordon over the summer but could not reach an agreement with Newcastle.

In addition to Diaz, Liverpool is looking to negotiate contract extensions with other key players, including Virgil van Dijk, whose contract is set to expire next summer.
