Liverpool believe they have discovered the perfect £111 million striker for the Arne Slot era…

Liverpool is reportedly in search of a new striker to address their recent lack of goalscoring consistency.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the club is among several teams, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain, interested in recruiting Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

Liverpool believes that Osimhen could be the ideal striker to lead their team in the post-Jurgen Klopp era.

Osimhen is a highly sought-after player, with Chelsea and Manchester United showing strong interest in him. Paris Saint-Germain has also expressed their desire to acquire him.

However, there is now a new contender in the mix – Liverpool. According to reports, Osimhen is seen as the ideal striker to succeed Jurgen Klopp, particularly during the “Arne Slot era.”

Securing Osimhen’s services won’t come cheap though. PSG is willing to offer around £85 million, but there is a release clause set at approximately £111 million. While this falls short of the clause, it indicates that the bidding will start at a high price.

Furthermore, if another team enters the competition, it suggests that Napoli will receive the full amount of the release clause.

Liverpool continues to keep a close eye on Victor Osimhen, who remains relatively unnoticed by the football world.

Osimhen has consistently displayed his scoring prowess over the years, evident from his impressive record of 26 goals during Napoli’s Scudetto-winning season.

Despite Napoli’s struggles this year, Osimhen has managed to find the back of the net 14 times.

It is worth mentioning the striking resemblance in playing style between Osimhen and Santiago Gimenez, Feyenoord’s top scorer under Arne Slot.

Both players boast a pass completion rate of 68%, although they do not attempt a significant number of passes nor complete them frequently. In contrast, Darwin Nunez surpasses both Osimhen and Gimenez in terms of pass volume, with a pass completion rate of approximately 70%.

Nunez, unfortunately, fails to take advantage of the opportunities presented to him. His performance in the Premier League falls short, with four goals below his expected goals (xG). On the other hand, Gimenez and Osimhen have managed to fully capitalize on their chances.

If Slot aims to replicate the Feyenoord approach, Osimhen could be the ideal striker to pursue. However, the lingering question remains whether Liverpool would be willing to invest the necessary funds.
