Liverpool 2 — 1 Brighton – Mohamed Salah score and assist by McAllister LIVESCORES ( 2-1 )
Liverpool vs Brighton LIVE!
The first match of a crucial double-header in the Premier League title race takes place at Anfield on Easter Sunday. Liverpool will be hosting Brighton, a team that has historically caused them trouble, as they aim to reclaim the top spot in the league before Manchester City’s clash with current leaders Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium later today.
Currently sitting in second place, Liverpool is only behind Arsenal on goal difference and has the opportunity to put immense pressure on their rivals in an exhilarating three-way battle for the championship.
Unfortunately, Liverpool will be without Andy Robertson due to injury. In his absence, young Conor Bradley has been called upon to fill the void. Liverpool will be determined to bounce back from their heartbreaking last-minute defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-finals before the international break.
Although they have been strong at home, Liverpool has only managed to win one of their last seven league encounters with Brighton. Their previous meeting at the Amex Stadium in October resulted in an entertaining 2-2 draw.
The Seagulls have struggled on the road recently in their quest to secure a spot in Europe next season, managing just one win in their last eight league away matches. Speculation continues to swirl around head coach Roberto De Zerbi potentially taking over from Klopp at Anfield in the summer. He has decided to make three alterations to his starting lineup for today’s game. Stay updated on the Liverpool vs Brighton match live below!
Brighton had to make three changes to their lineup following their victory against Roma. The team’s match against Manchester City was postponed due to City’s involvement in the FA Cup quarter-finals, leaving the Seagulls without a game since their win over Roma on March 14. Despite the morale-boosting victory, it wasn’t enough to keep their Europa Conference League hopes alive after a heavy defeat in the first leg in Italy. Roberto De Zerbi has made three changes to the team that faced Roma, with Billy Gilmour and Julio Enciso out due to injuries, and Adam Lallana moving to the bench.
Joel Veltman, Carlos Baleba, and Jakub Moder have joined the team. Danny Welbeck will continue to start up front after his winning goal against Roma. As expected, Joao Pedro and James Milner are not yet available.
Evan Ferguson and Ansu Fati are substitutes. Liverpool has made one change, with Bradley replacing the injured Robertson. This change comes after their heartbreaking FA Cup defeat against Manchester United. Robertson is unable to play due to an ankle injury sustained while playing for Scotland. As a result, Joe Gomez has moved to left-back, and Conor Bradley has taken his place on the right side of defense.
Jurgen Klopp has kept the rest of the team unchanged, with Darwin Nunez starting after recovering from a hamstring issue and Luis Diaz maintaining his position after overcoming a groin problem. Cody Gakpo and Ibrahima Konate, who had their own injury concerns, are on the bench. Jarell Quansah once again partners with captain Virgil van Dijk in central defense.
Curtis Jones is still absent for Liverpool, meaning Caoimhin Kelleher will once again take his place in goal.
Brighton’s starting lineup consists of Verbruggen, Veltman, Dunk, Van Hecke, Lamptey, Baleba, Gross, Estupinan, Adingra, Moder, and Welbeck.
On the bench, they have Igor, Webster, Lallana, Barco, Steele, Ferguson, Fati, Buonanotte, and Chouchane as substitutes.
Liverpool’s starting lineup includes Kelleher, Bradley, Quansah, Van Dijk, Gomez, Mac Allister, Endo, Szoboszlai, Salah, Nunez, and Diaz.
Their substitutes are Konate, Adrian, Gakpo, Elliott, Tsimikas, Gravenberch, Clark, McConnell, and Danns.
