The Premier League clash between Liverpool and Chelsea is set to be an exhilarating encounter. Liverpool, who currently hold a five-point lead at the top of the table, are determined to maintain their advantage. Meanwhile, Chelsea will be looking to close the gap and secure a crucial victory.
This match holds significant importance for Liverpool, especially with their upcoming fixture against Arsenal. The atmosphere at Anfield is expected to be electric, as it marks the first Premier League game for Liverpool since the announcement of Jurgen Klopp’s departure at the end of the season.
Unfortunately, Liverpool will be without the services of Mohamed Salah due to injury. Additionally, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold will start the game on the bench, as they are not fully fit. However, the team remains focused and determined to secure a positive result.

Chelsea have shown great form against top teams this season, despite their inconsistency resulting in a tenth-place position in the table.
However, they have won four out of their last five league matches and are set to face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley next month. Mauricio Pochettino will be pleased to have Christopher Nkunku back in the squad, providing a significant boost. Liverpool is determined to give their all for Klopp
According to Virgil van Dijk, Jurgen Klopp’s recent news will serve as an additional motivation for the Liverpool squad as they aim to give him a memorable send-off.
Not the news the rest of the Premier League wanted to hear…
Could Alonso return to Liverpool?
Even before Jurgen Klopp’s surprising announcement about leaving Anfield at the end of the season, Liverpool had already begun considering potential successors, with former midfielder Xabi Alonso being a top contender.
Klopp’s departure from Liverpool was officially announced on Friday, although the club had been aware of the situation since a meeting in November.
In a video interview on social media, the 56-year-old expressed that he is experiencing a decline in energy and further explained that the club executives had already been given sufficient time to process his decision.
The announcement caught Liverpool off guard during their meeting in November, especially considering that he had signed a long-term contract until 2026 just two years prior.
However, the club now has ample time to internally discuss potential candidates for his replacement. While the public is not yet aware of the shortlist, it is widely believed that Bayer Leverkusen manager Alonso, who is highly regarded as one of the most promising young coaches in the world of football, is a strong contender for the position.
Although there is no release clause in Alonso’s contract with Leverkusen, it is unlikely that they would impede his departure if he expresses a desire to leave at the end of the season.
