Latest updates on Vardy, Ndidi, and McAteer’s injuries and return dates before Leicester City’s match against Hull.
Vardy, Ndidi, and McAteer are the players from Leicester City who are currently dealing with injuries. The return dates for these players are being monitored closely as they prepare for the upcoming clash against Hull.
Enzo Maresca provides an injury update on his Leicester City squad following their recent match against Sunderland and ahead of their upcoming clash with Hull.
Jamie Vardy, who scored the decisive goal in the victory over Sunderland, has not participated in training sessions since then. This raises doubts about his availability to lead the team’s attack against Hull. Despite playing for 78 minutes in the match, Vardy has been unable to train since.
He might still participate in City’s final training session before they face the Tigers in the play-off chase on Saturday afternoon, but his absence from Seagrave raises doubts about his starting position. In addition to Daka, Enzo Maresca has Kelechi Iheanacho and Tom Cannon as options.
Apart from Vardy, City is also missing Kasey McAteer, Ricardo Pereira, and Dennis Praet due to injuries. However, Jannik Vestergaard is back after serving a two-match suspension.
“Kasey is still sidelined,” Maresca mentioned during his press conference on Friday afternoon. “The only one missing is Jamie. Since the Sunderland match, he hasn’t trained with us. It’s nothing serious, he just needs some rest. We will assess his availability for today’s session.”
McAteer continues to face the same issue with his hamstring that he has had in previous seasons, although it seems to be slightly less severe this time. The hope is that he will be able to return to action within the next few weeks.
As for Vardy, his absence is not due to an injury but rather a decision to manage his playing time due to his age and recent match participation. He has not trained with the team in the past two days, and a decision on his availability will be made later today.
In a surprising turn of events, Ndidi made a comeback from injury during Tuesday’s game, playing the final 20 minutes. Although he was not initially intended to be used, the circumstances of the match and the team’s need for a win led to his inclusion. Now, he is fully prepared to play.
Maresca explained that Ndidi’s presence in the squad was initially meant to be purely for team morale, with no intention of giving him any playing time. However, due to fatigue experienced by Yunus Akgun and the team’s need for a victory, Ndidi made an incredible effort to contribute for 20 minutes. Now, he is ready to play, but a decision on whether he will start or be on the bench will be made tomorrow.
