Arsenal Injury Update: Rice, Odegaard, Merino, and Havertz Ahead of Chelsea Clash.

Arsenal’s latest injury report features updates on Merino, the expected comeback of Odegaard, doubts regarding Havertz’s availability, and information concerning Declan Rice.

As Arsenal prepares for their match against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, they aim to break a three-match winless streak in the Premier League.

Declan Rice is currently facing a tight deadline to recover in time for the game.

The 25-year-old midfielder missed the recent match against Inter Milan due to an injury sustained during the encounter with Newcastle last weekend.

Reports indicate that Rice may have suffered a broken toe at St James’ Park, yet he is eager to push through the discomfort to face Enzo Maresca’s side.

He has also been named in the England squad for upcoming Nations League matches against Greece and the Republic of Ireland, which has led to some optimism regarding his fitness.

However, Mikel Arteta expressed uncertainty during his pre-match press conference about Rice’s availability.

He stated, “I have to be quite vague on that one because there’s no clarity on whether he’ll be fit for the weekend.

“[Regarding the broken toe,] that’s a question for the doctor. What I can confirm is that he hasn’t trained yet, and it remains unclear if he will be able to play.”

On a positive note, Martin Odegaard made his return during the 1-0 loss to Inter, coming on as a late substitute for the first time in over two months.

“Everyone in the squad is fit and available to start, so it will be a decision on whether it’s too soon or the right moment for him to take that step again,” Arteta commented on Odegaard’s potential involvement against Chelsea.

Arteta also provided updates on Kai Havertz and Mikel Merino, both of whom were substituted during the Inter match.

“We’ll need to wait until tomorrow to assess their reactions,” he noted.

“Kai sustained a significant cut and was unable to continue, while Mikel wasn’t feeling well the day before, prompting us to substitute him at half-time.”
