Kristjaan Speakman is expected to authorize a double transfer deal for Sunderland as Régis Le Bris trims the squad.

Kristjaan Speakman is poised to approve a dual transfer departure from Sunderland.

Elliot Embleton appears likely to depart Sunderland this summer, with Régis Le Bris confirming this following the match against Marseille at Valley Parade.

The homegrown Sunderland attacking midfielder achieved promotion from League One to the Championship through the play-offs at Wembley during a loan period in 2021.

At 25 years old, Embleton has been strongly linked with a move back to Blackpool this summer and was omitted from Le Bris’ first-team lineup last Saturday at Valley Parade, where Sunderland wrapped up their pre-season with a 2-2 draw.

The ex-England youth player featured in 18 games for the Tangerines in their promotion-winning season, then went back to Sunderland to assist his childhood team in achieving promotion in a similar manner the next season.

Following the match against Marseille, Le Bris was questioned about Embleton’s potential move to Blackpool in the upcoming summer. His reply? “Yes, there is a possibility.” Additionally, Jewison Bennette might also depart during the transfer window.

The Costa Rica national spent half a year at Aris in Greece during the 2023-24 season but is currently playing second fiddle to Jack Clarke and Romaine Mundle in Le Bris’ lineup at Sunderland.

Costa Rican reporter Kevin Jimenez shared on Saturday: “Jewison Bennette is seeking a loan move this transfer window, as the Costa Rican winger is currently with Sunderland’s under-21 squad and a loan deal seems likely for this season.”

Sunderland will kick off their Championship season against Cardiff City in Wales this upcoming Saturday.
