Jurgen Klopp has given an update on Liverpool’s injury situation ahead of their upcoming matches against Sheffield United and Manchester United.

Despite the ongoing injury crisis that has plagued the team this season, there is some positive news on the horizon. Klopp has confirmed that Curtis Jones is in contention to feature in the match against Sheffield United.

Additionally, key players Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, and Diogo Jota are all making progress in their recovery and are nearing a return to team training.

Youngster Stefan Bajcetic is also approaching full fitness. While there are still players sidelined, these updates provide a glimmer of hope for Liverpool as they navigate through this challenging period.

During his pre-match press conference prior to Sheffield United’s visit, Klopp provided an update on his team’s fitness. He confirmed that Jones would be able to play his first minutes since 17 February, as he is now fully training and in contention.

Klopp also mentioned that the other players are doing well. Diogo and Trent are training together in a group, and it seems likely that they will both join parts of team training from next week onwards. The rest of their progress remains to be seen.

As for Ali, he is currently working with the goalkeeper coaches. Although Klopp can only see them through the fence, it appears that Ali’s training is going well. Klopp believes that Ali will also be able to participate in parts of team training from next week, which is a positive development.

Later during the press conference, the manager mentioned that Bajcetic would be joining the first-team after training with the Under-21s in recent days. Klopp further stated, “He [Bajcetic] has been training fully with the U21s this week.

This means that we will have him training with us next week and then we will assess the situation. It’s great to have another player coming in, and that is super-important.”

Alisson’s last appearance for Liverpool was on 4th February, Alexander-Arnold played a week later on 10th February, and Jota has been absent since 17th February. On the other hand, Bajcetic’s last appearance was in September last year, and he has been dealing with a long-standing issue.

It is yet to be determined whether these players will be ready to participate in the upcoming Liverpool matches against Atalanta on 11th April and Crystal Palace on 14th April, or if they will need more time to adjust to team training.

Nonetheless, the imminent return of these key players will provide a significant boost to Klopp and Liverpool as they navigate through a busy schedule.

Liverpool’s upcoming schedule is packed with eight matches in April

Currently, Liverpool has a packed schedule with eight matches lined up for the month of April. Each game holds significant importance as they could potentially shape the outcome of the season during this critical period.

Following the match against Sheffield United at home on Thursday, Liverpool will head to Old Trafford for their next fixture. This will be followed by a Europa League quarter-final clash against Atalanta on April 11th, before returning to Premier League action against Crystal Palace on the following Sunday.

In addition to these fixtures, Klopp’s team will also have to navigate through the second leg of their Atalanta tie, a Merseyside derby, and away trips to Fulham and West Ham before the month comes to a close.
