Jamie Carragher says £50million Liverpool player did something Jurgen Klopp ‘couldn’t believe’ on his last game.- reveal…
Jamie Carragher praised the performance of a £50m Liverpool player in Jurgen Klopp’s final game, highlighting a moment that left the manager in disbelief.
Jamie Carragher revealed that Liverpool’s £50m player did something that even Jurgen Klopp found unbelievable during his final match.
Liverpool bid farewell to Jurgen Klopp with a victory in his last game as manager on Sunday. The match wasn’t the most exciting, but with nothing at stake and the sun shining at Anfield, Liverpool secured a comfortable 2-0 win.
In reality, considering Wolves were reduced to 10 men, Liverpool should have scored more goals. Harvey Elliott was the standout performer, although some of his teammates struggled to match his level.
Luis Diaz put in a solid effort, showing his commitment. Despite rumors of a potential departure this summer, Diaz seems content at Anfield.
Unfortunately, the 27-year-old player will reflect on this match with regret, as he missed a golden opportunity to score. Despite receiving a well-executed pass from Cody Gakpo, Diaz somehow failed to find the back of the net. Jamie Carragher revealed that Jurgen Klopp was left in disbelief by this unfortunate turn of events.
Jurgen Klopp’s astonishment at Luis Diaz’s missed chance
It is truly disappointing that Liverpool was unable to secure a third goal during the game. Scoring one last goal in front of the Kop would have been a memorable moment for Klopp.
Diaz had a clear chance to score, thanks to Gakpo’s excellent play in evading Jose Sa and delivering a precise pass to his teammate.
With the goal within close range, Diaz only needed to direct his shot on target. It should have been a straightforward task.
However, Diaz’s contact with the ball was not clean, causing it to hit the crossbar instead.
Klopp’s response to the miss was evident as he sat on the Anfield bench. Wearing his iconic cap, the manager took a moment to bury his face in it.
During the commentary for Sky Sports, Carragher observed Klopp’s reaction and stated that the boss was in disbelief.
“Yeah, he just barely caught it above the ankle,” remarked the Liverpool legend. “[Jurgen Klopp] can’t believe it.”
Will Luis Diaz remain at Liverpool for the upcoming season?
This situation perfectly encapsulated Diaz’s season. There were moments where he performed exceptionally well against Wolves and often served as Liverpool’s most promising option.
However, when it came down to the crucial moments, Liverpool’s No.7 simply couldn’t find the back of the net.
This extravagance has sparked rumors that Reds supporters might not object to Diaz departing this summer.
Moreover, with PSG and Barcelona reportedly showing interest, there remains a chance that the striker may have already completed his final match for Liverpool.
Should this speculation hold true, a sum well beyond the £50m paid by the Reds in 2022 will need to be offered. Otherwise, he will return, aiming to display better finishing skills in the upcoming season.
