Jamie Carragher has raised questions regarding Howard Webb’s involvement after William Saliba received a red card during Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

Carragher’s remarks highlight potential issues with Webb’s oversight in officiating.

Following the red card given to William Saliba, Jamie Carragher expresses his doubts regarding Howard Webb, who was seen in the vicinity.

Saliba was shown a yellow card by referee Rob Jones for a foul on Evanilson in the first half of the Premier League match at The Vitality Stadium.

However, following a VAR review, the decision was upgraded to a red card.

As a result of the dismissal, Saliba will miss the crucial upcoming match against Liverpool.

Carragher speculated on social media whether Webb had a role in the decision, as he was seen using his phone in the stands during the incident.

In a now-deleted tweet, Carragher asked, “Did Howard Webb have any involvement in the decision to issue a red card to Saliba?”

Arsenal fans voiced their frustration towards Webb and the PGMOL, chanting “F*** Howard Webb” in response to the red card. Despite being reduced to ten men, Arsenal managed to hold the score at 0-0 by halftime.

Unfortunately for the Gunners, the situation deteriorated in the second half, leading to their first loss of the season with a final score of 2-0 against Bournemouth.

This defeat adds to the challenges facing Mikel Arteta, especially with team captain Martin Odegaard currently injured.

Arteta had indicated on Friday that Odegaard might be fit to return for the match against Liverpool.
