‘It’s clear’: Arne Slot gives Milos Kerkez verdict and answers whether he wants to sign him for Liverpool…
Arne Slot provides insight on Milos Kerkez and addresses the possibility of signing him for Liverpool
Arne Slot shares his thoughts on Milos Kerkez and discusses whether he is a target for Liverpool
Liverpool secured a hard-fought victory against Bournemouth on Saturday, earning three vital points in the Premier League.
The Reds anticipated a challenging match at the Vitality Stadium, especially after witnessing Bournemouth score nine goals in their previous two outings.
A significant contributor to Bournemouth’s recent success has been left-back Milos Kerkez, who is reportedly on Liverpool’s radar.
Kerkez has emerged as a potential long-term replacement for Andy Robertson at Liverpool.
The match on Saturday provided the Reds with an opportunity to closely observe the Hungarian player as he went up against Mohamed Salah on Liverpool’s right flank.
While Salah ultimately proved to be the match-winner, this did not overshadow Kerkez’s overall performance. After watching the 21-year-old from the sidelines, Arne Slot was directly asked if Kerkez is now a target for transfer.
Arne Slot addresses the transfer speculation surrounding Milos Kerkez
Kerkez has arguably been one of the top left-backs in the Premier League this season.
However, the Hungarian has recently downplayed the prospect of joining Liverpool, stating during a live stream on his YouTube channel that he will not be making the move.
Despite this, speculation is likely to persist, and in his post-match press conference, Slot may have added fuel to the fire by commending the young defender.
“I think it’s evident that this team has many strengths, but their left full-back is certainly a significant threat going forward, and while Mo Salah is an exceptional player, his primary strength is not tracking the opposing full-back!” Slot remarked with a smile.
When asked directly if Kerkez is a player Liverpool will consider in the summer, Slot maintained a diplomatic stance.
I believe it is unnecessary to discuss players we are interested in, especially when referring to someone who is currently excelling in their season, as many others are as well, he stated.
How did Kerkez perform against Liverpool?
Slot was not the only one with ties to Liverpool observing Kerkez closely on Saturday.
The former AZ Alkmaar player appears to be a strong candidate for a summer move to Anfield, and for good reason.
While he showed promise in certain moments against Salah on Saturday, Kerkez was ultimately unable to fully contain Liverpool’s key player.
He is not the first to struggle in this regard over the years, but the expectations at Liverpool are exceptionally high, and based on this performance, it remains uncertain if Kerkez meets those standards.
Nonetheless, he has enjoyed an outstanding season, and given his young age, he is likely to continue developing and improving. He is certainly one to keep an eye on.
