‘I just feel’: Neville identifies the team he thinks has the best chance of winning the Premier League trophy this season…
Gary Neville shares his thoughts on the Premier League title race, indicating his belief in Arsenal’s chances this season.
In conversations surrounding the title contenders, Liverpool often seems to be overlooked, with the focus primarily on Manchester City and Arsenal.
However, after six matches, Arne Slot’s Liverpool currently leads the league, holding a one-point advantage over both City and Arsenal.
While it is true that Liverpool’s early fixtures have not been particularly challenging—having yet to face any teams expected to finish in the top six—they have still managed to secure their position.
Slot might argue that his team can only compete against the opponents they encounter, despite Nottingham Forest managing to take all three points during their visit to Anfield.
On the other hand, following Mikel Arteta’s team’s victory over Leicester City, there is a growing sense of optimism at the Emirates Stadium that this could be Arsenal’s year.
In a recent discussion with NBC Sports, Gary Neville reiterated his prediction for the title, affirming his initial choice of Arsenal.
He emphasized that his confidence in their success is not solely influenced by Rodri’s injury at Manchester City. Neville remarked, “I selected Arsenal at the beginning of the season, and I believe they are making significant progress.
I am convinced they will win the league this year, as I sense that it may be a challenging season for Manchester City.”
However, it’s Pep Guardiola we’re discussing. It appears he is ready for the challenge and is actively engaging with Mikel Arteta during press conferences, which is encouraging for us to witness.
Looking ahead to the next significant match in the title race, Arsenal will face Liverpool on October 27, presenting a crucial test for both teams shortly after the international break.
Martin Zubimendi could still play a pivotal role in the title race. Jamie Carragher recently evaluated Arsenal’s prospects for winning the league, concluding that the title race remains highly competitive.
Regarding upcoming fixtures, Manchester City is set to enter a series of matches that one would expect Guardiola’s team to win with relative ease, regardless of Rodri’s absence.
There is no denying that losing the Spaniard is a significant blow for City; however, players like Mateo Kovacic possess the quality and experience necessary to help Guardiola’s squad navigate through until at least January.
Interestingly, there are suggestions that City may pursue Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, a defensive midfielder who had discussions with Arsenal and Liverpool this summer.
That said, Zubimendi has now made his decision regarding his new club, which does not include a transfer to England.
