“I have a feeling.” – Pep Guardiola expresses early thoughts on the title race between Manchester City and Liverpool…
Pep Guardiola has provided his early assessment of the title battle involving Manchester City and Liverpool, remarking, “I have a feeling.”
In a recent statement, Pep Guardiola shared his initial impressions regarding the title competition between Manchester City and Liverpool, saying, “I have a feeling.”
Currently, Manchester City is five points behind league leaders Liverpool in the Premier League standings.
Despite a challenging stretch of results, Pep Guardiola believes there is ample time for Manchester City to re-enter the title race.
The team has experienced a disappointing run, losing their last four matches across all competitions, marking their worst performance under Guardiola and the worst in 18 years.
Two of these losses occurred in the Premier League, allowing Liverpool to maintain a five-point lead at the top.
Following Saturday’s defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, Guardiola acknowledged that this might be a season where another team “deserves” to claim the league title.
He also noted that City is currently struggling to perform consistently for the full 90 minutes due to a series of injuries.
City’s recent setbacks include dropped points against Brighton and Bournemouth, but they are not alone in facing difficulties; other Champions League contenders are also struggling.
Aston Villa has lost their last four matches, Arsenal’s only victory in five games came in the Carabao Cup against Preston North End, Chelsea has managed just one win in their last five league outings, Tottenham Hotspur suffered a defeat to Ipswich Town, and Manchester United finds themselves in 13th place.
In contrast, teams like Brighton, Newcastle United, Fulham, and Brentford have shown strong performances in what is shaping up to be a highly competitive Premier League season.
Guardiola has suggested that a lower points total may be sufficient to win the league this year, potentially offering City some leeway for their early-season struggles.
After the match against Brighton, Guardiola hinted that there will likely be more unexpected results throughout the league this season, which could be crucial for City as they aim to close the gap on Liverpool.
Guardiola stated, “We have experienced success in the past, and while we are not currently performing at our peak, it is important to remember that it is still November.
I am optimistic that we can gradually improve. I sense that every match will be challenging for all teams in the league. We need to regain our best form, and we will see how it unfolds.”
Following the November international break, City will host Spurs at home, followed by matches against Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, and Manchester United within the first two weeks of December.
