Liverpool and FSG are looking to secure the services of a promising new player in a £35m deal, with the Reds believing it to be a great value for money.

Liverpool transfer update

The club has been actively scouting potential signings, with the recruitment team focused on finding the right players to strengthen Jurgen Klopp’s squad for the upcoming season.

With Joel Matip set to leave, there is a need for another centre-back, and reports suggest that young Juventus defender Dean Huijsen is on their radar.

At just 18 years old, he has impressed during his loan spell at Roma, making 12 appearances in Serie A and showcasing his defensive abilities.

Another highly anticipated possibility involving Joao Neves has been supported to secure a transfer to Liverpool in the summer. The Benfica midfielder is considered one of the most promising young talents in his position in Europe at the moment.

The 19-year-old has been a more consistent presence than Huijsen, appearing in 27 matches in the Primeira Liga in 2023/24, 22 of which he started.

Real Madrid’s Rodrygo is also rumored to be a target for Liverpool at the end of the season, although the European powerhouse is hesitant to part ways with one of their key players, especially if Kylian Mbappe joins from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

As per a recent report from Football Insider, Liverpool and FSG are considering a summer transfer for Jeremie Frimpong, viewing the Bayer Leverkusen standout as a cost-effective option due to a £35m release clause in his current deal.

Manchester United are reportedly in the mix to compete with their rivals, while Arsenal is also mentioned as a potential destination, with significant interest coming from England.

Frimpong has been having an outstanding season at Leverkusen, emerging as a key player in their Bundesliga title pursuit. Operating mainly as a right wing-back under Xabi Alonso, the Dutchman has contributed eight goals and seven assists in the league since August.

His coach has been effusive in his praise, stating, “He has a significant impact on our team. He is not just a good player, but a special one in my eyes. It’s no surprise that Louis Van Gaal has given him opportunities, as he truly stands out.”

In the future, Liverpool will need to identify a successor for Mohamed Salah’s productivity, and although Frimpong may not be a direct replacement, his output could help mitigate the loss.

As a young talent with ample room for growth, Frimpong has demonstrated his attacking prowess despite his defensive role at Leverkusen. This suggests he could potentially transition further forward or continue to contribute with goals and assists from the back.
