Fabrizio Romano confidently states that he now has a clear understanding of Liverpool’s plans for Xabi Alonso in the upcoming month…
Fabrizio Romano, a trusted source, confidently claims to have inside information regarding Liverpool’s plans for Xabi Alonso in the upcoming month. According to him, he is now certain about what the club intends to do with the talented player.
According to Fabrizio Romano, there is now certainty regarding Liverpool’s plans for Xabi Alonso in the upcoming month. April is expected to be a crucial period in Liverpool’s pursuit of Alonso as their potential new manager.
Since Jurgen Klopp’s surprising announcement to depart the club in January, Alonso has emerged as the frontrunner for the position. However, despite the passing of two months, there has been minimal progress.
Alonso’s attention has been primarily directed towards concluding an exceptional season with Bayer Leverkusen, while Bayern Munich remains interested as well.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, there are developments happening behind the scenes. Romano mentioned on the JD Football YouTube channel that Liverpool and Bayern will be engaged in a fierce battle in April.
“Liverpool will not give up easily on Xabi Alonso,” Romano stated. “Both Liverpool and Bayern are determined to secure the Spanish manager. The upcoming weeks and months will be quite intriguing.
“Rest assured, Liverpool and Bayern are fully committed to this pursuit. Bayern is already making moves. It looks like April will witness an intense battle.”
In the event that they display any form of reluctance or hesitation, the German giants will take advantage and gain the upper hand. Liverpool cannot afford for that to occur.
According to reports, there are still other managers being considered for the position at Anfield, with Franck Haise from Lens being tentatively mentioned. However, Alonso is clearly the frontrunner.
If the World Cup winner does indeed join Bayern, it will be a significant setback for Liverpool in the early stages of the post-Klopp era.
Naturally, they must also keep their options open elsewhere, as there are other capable managers available. They cannot wait indefinitely for Alonso to make his decision.
With the season coming to a close soon, April seems like a suitable deadline. Following Liverpool’s elimination from the FA Cup over the weekend, Klopp’s final match will be either in the Premier League on May 19th or in the Europa League final three days later.
Given Leverkusen’s involvement in multiple competitions, it’s understandable why Alonso is seeking clarity. However, the reality is that two prominent clubs are eagerly awaiting his decision.
Liverpool must have a contingency plan ready. As they approach the end of the season, their former No.14 is still their top priority.
