David Ornstein reports that Arsenal target Nico Williams is now more receptive to a Premier League transfer following the collapse of his potential move to Barcelona.

The player targeted by Arsenal, priced at 55 million, is increasingly open to a transfer to the Premier League with January being a potential timeframe for the move.

The Athletic Club attacking midfielder had his sights set on joining Barcelona last summer, despite interest from Arsenal and other top Premier League clubs.

However, when the transfer to Camp Nou did not materialize, Williams opted to stay with Athletic Club, which has now opened the door for Arsenal and other interested parties.

With Barcelona no longer pursuing him, the Spanish winger is considering a move to the Premier League.

Arsenal, along with Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham, have long been admirers of Williams.

His current club will only entertain offers if his €55 million release clause is triggered.

Although Williams would prefer to avoid a winter transfer, it remains a possibility.

Arsenal currently boasts Bukayo Saka as one of the best right wingers in the Premier League, but they could benefit from a strong left-sided option, and Williams fits that requirement.

He is versatile enough to play on the right as well, showcasing impressive dribbling and accurate crossing.

This season, Williams has contributed two goals and five assists in 18 matches, following a strong previous season where he recorded 19 assists and eight goals in 37 appearances.

He also played a significant role in Spain’s successful European Championship campaign, contributing two assists and a goal in five matches.

The Gunners secured a loan deal for Raheem Sterling from Chelsea on transfer deadline day; however, the English forward has struggled to integrate into Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Acquiring Williams for €55 million represents a significant improvement over Arsenal’s existing left-wing options, making it a highly advantageous move.
