Confirmed: 27-man squad in Liverpool training – Mo Salah returns and Liverpool’s big ‘talent’ spotted in senior training; Klopp could hand him his debut vs Sparta…
Liverpool’s promising young player has been identified during senior training sessions; Klopp may decide to give him his debut against Sparta.
Confirmed: 27 players in Liverpool’s training squad – Mo Salah is back but Danns is absent.
Mo Salah and Caoimhin Kelleher were both in attendance during Liverpool’s training session before their match against Sparta Prague in the Europa League.
The team trained at their Kirkby facility before departing for Prague, where Jurgen Klopp will hold a press conference at 7pm (GMT).
This marks Salah’s first appearance on the field since his performance at the Brentford Community Stadium on February 17, where he scored and provided an assist.
Prior to that, his most recent appearance for Liverpool was on January 1 against Newcastle, where he played in their 4-2 victory at Anfield. This was before he sustained a hamstring injury while participating in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The only other question that arose before this training session was whether Kelleher would be present.
On Tuesday, there was an internet rumor suggesting that he was injured. However, this rumor has since been proven false as he was seen training as usual on Wednesday.
Adrian was also present during the training session. Despite not being included in the squad for the group stage, the experienced goalkeeper has been training with the other goalkeepers throughout the season before Europa League matches.
Earlier this week, Liverpool decided to add Adrian to the Europa League squad for the second half of the season. This was done to ensure that he can serve as a backup for Kelleher in case Alisson is still injured.
Notable inclusions in the squad Amara Nallo, Mateusz Musialowski, Kaide Gordon, Lewis Koumas and Trey Nyoni – all five of which started the under 21s’ 2-0 loss vs. Aston Villa at the weekend.
Jayden Danns, however, wasn’t pictured in first team training.
The starting lineup for this game is difficult to predict but, with Man City to come on Sunday and a second leg to rectify a possible defeat, Klopp could field a team of relative inexperience.
The arrival of Mateusz Musialowski in Liverpool senior training this afternoon heralds the possibility of a debut for Jurgen Klopp in Europe.
Ian Doyle shared on X that the Polish star made an appearance at the AXA training centre on Wednesday, accompanied by Academy graduates Lewis Koumas, Kaide Gordon, and James McConnell.
There is a lot of speculation surrounding the team selection for our Europa League clash in Prague. Many are wondering if the manager will completely change the starting XI from the previous match against Nottingham Forest. However, it is important to consider the need for key players to get some match minutes under their belt before Manchester City’s visit this weekend.
Hopefully, we will have the opportunity to witness the talent that Pep Lijnders has previously praised so highly (via Sport).
Defenders: Van Dijk, Konate, Gomez, Quansah, Robertson, Bradley, Tsimikas, Nallo
Midfielders: Mac Allister, Endo, Elliott, Clark, McConnell, Szoboszlai, Nyoni
Forwards: Salah, Nunez, Diaz, Gakpo, Gordon, Musialowski, Koumas.
