Carabao Cup Semi-Final Draw Announced: Liverpool and Arsenal Learn Their Opponents

The Carabao Cup is heating up as Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham prepare for the semi-finals, with each team now aware of their upcoming challengers in the two-legged matchups.

Liverpool will face Tottenham in their semi-final clash as they aim to defend their title.

Meanwhile, Arsenal is set to go up against Newcastle in the other semi-final, with the first piece of silverware of the season scheduled to be awarded at Wembley in mid-March.

The reigning champions advanced past Southampton on Wednesday night and had to wait a day to discover their next opponent after Manchester United and Tottenham concluded the last quarter-final, with Tottenham emerging victorious.

Arsenal secured their place in the semi-finals by overcoming Crystal Palace at the Emirates, thanks to a hat-trick from Gabriel Jesus.

Newcastle also progressed with a comfortable win over Brentford, where Sandro Tonali netted two of their three goals at St James’ Park.

Liverpool’s triumph in this tournament last year marked Jurgen Klopp’s final achievement with the club before his departure.

New manager Arne Slot has made a strong start and will be eager to claim silverware in his inaugural season.

Tottenham, who won this tournament 16 years ago, are looking to end a long trophy drought.

They managed to overcome Manchester United in a thrilling match that featured seven goals.

Arsenal, on the other hand, is in search of a trophy to validate their significant investment and the progress made under Mikel Arteta.

Despite his successful tenure, Arteta has not lifted a trophy since the FA Cup in 2020.

Newcastle, finalists from two seasons ago, are aiming to secure their first major trophy under Saudi ownership.

Although Eddie Howe’s team has shown inconsistency this season, a victory in this tournament could serve as a catalyst for their ambitions.

The two-legged semi-finals are scheduled to feature one match in early January, followed by the return leg in the subsequent month.
