Caoimhin Kelleher faces a setback as Liverpool awaits an injury update ahead of Chelsea Clash on Sunday…
Liverpool is currently awaiting an update on Caoimhin Kelleher, who has encountered a setback due to injury.
Caoimhin Kelleher has hit a setback, prompting Liverpool to seek further information on his injury situation.
Caoimhin Kelleher had a challenging night with the Republic of Ireland, coinciding with Liverpool’s anticipation of news regarding Alexis Mac Allister’s fitness.
Kelleher’s preparation for his anticipated role as Liverpool’s goalkeeper was marred by a defeat against Greece on Sunday.
He was responsible for the second goal conceded in injury time, having ventured outside his penalty area and inadvertently passing the ball to Petros Mantolos, who capitalized on the mistake to secure a 2-0 victory for Greece in the UEFA Nations League.
The Reds’ goalkeeper, who had made several crucial saves in the first half, is expected to take the position for the next month while Alisson Becker recovers from a hamstring injury.
Kostas Tsimikas, Kelleher’s Liverpool teammate, missed Greece’s 2-1 win over England at Wembley last Thursday but came on as a substitute for the final eight minutes, helping his team maintain a three-point lead at the top of their group.
Trent Alexander-Arnold contributed to England’s recovery from that defeat, playing left-back against Finland for the first time in his senior career.
He assisted Jack Grealish’s opening goal and scored a stunning free-kick for the second, leading the Three Lions to a 3-1 win in Helsinki.
All three players have now completed their international duties and will join Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Curtis Jones as they return to the AXA Training Centre later this week, preparing for Liverpool’s Premier League match against a strong Chelsea side on Sunday.
Slot’s primary focus regarding his remaining international players is Alexis Mac Allister, who departed for Argentina duty last week after being substituted at halftime during the Premier League victory against Crystal Palace due to reported muscle discomfort.
Mac Allister was not utilized in last week’s 1-1 World Cup qualifying match on a challenging pitch in Venezuela; however, he has since been training regularly with the team.
The Liverpool midfielder is anticipated to play at some point during the home match against Bolivia in the early hours of Wednesday morning UK time, although Argentina’s coach, Lionel Scaloni, has yet to confirm if the player is fit enough to start.
