BREAKING NEWS : Sverre Nypan is in London as Arsenal advance in their talks for the Norwegian starlet…
Sverre Nypan has arrived in London as Arsenal intensifies discussions regarding the promising Norwegian talent.
The 18-year-old midfielder is in the capital to engage in talks with the Gunners, who are eager to outmaneuver Manchester City in the race for the young star.
Nypan was spotted in Erling Haaland’s box during Manchester City’s match against Chelsea on Saturday, accompanied by his family and agent, Rafaela Pimenta.
In addition to Arsenal, Girona, a sister club of City, is also interested in securing Nypan’s services, as Arsenal seeks to bolster their squad with a forward this week.
Currently playing for Rosenborg in Norway’s top division, Nypan is considering his options.
The Gunners are keen on acquiring emerging global talent, particularly in light of their current injury challenges, which have prompted them to seek additional depth during the January transfer window.
Should the deal go through, Nypan would become Arsenal’s first acquisition under interim sporting director Jason Ayto, who took over from Edu Gaspar last November.
Previously, Nypan expressed a desire to play for Manchester United, stating that it would be a dream to don the club’s red jersey, although he emphasized his commitment to Rosenborg at that time.
However, with numerous elite clubs now pursuing him, the situation appears to have evolved. Last season, Nypan made 24 appearances for Rosenborg, scoring nine goals and providing five assists.
Over his 60 senior matches, he has accumulated an impressive total of 24 goal contributions as an attacking midfielder, including 13 goals and 11 assists.
The teenager first appeared for Rosenborg on November 6, 2022, when he started in a league game against Jerv.
At the age of 15 years and 322 days, he set the record as the youngest player to ever play for Rosenborg and has since established himself as a dependable starter for the team.
In May 2023, he achieved another milestone by becoming the youngest player to score in a league match for the club, accomplishing this feat at just 16 years and 145 days old.
