Liverpool has made a formal offer for Alexander Isak, and Newcastle is expected to accept it.

While personal terms have been settled, the only point of contention remains the transfer fee, with Liverpool proposing around €50 million, whereas Newcastle is aiming for €65 million.

Liverpool has heightened interest in Alexander Isak following a candid statement from Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe regarding the transfer situation.

Reports from El Nacional indicate that Liverpool is considering a bid of €50 million (£44.2 million) for the Newcastle striker.

Eddie Howe has acknowledged that financial considerations are currently taking precedence over sporting ones, as speculation mounts about Isak’s potential move to Liverpool.

The Reds are among several clubs interested in the Swedish forward, who has been in exceptional form.

Newcastle’s transfer activities have been limited due to financial constraints, as they seek to avoid breaching the Profit and Sustainability rules.

Last summer, Liverpool was linked with a high-profile transfer for Anthony Gordon, while Newcastle explored options to maintain compliance with financial regulations.

In June, Liverpool reached an agreement for a £75 million transfer with Newcastle, but the deal ultimately fell through. Subsequently, Newcastle sold Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to generate necessary funds.

Isak’s impressive performances have attracted attention from some of Europe’s top clubs, including Liverpool.

Howe has reiterated that financial realities are influencing decisions, stating, “The business logic is taking over from the football logic.

There may be football decisions you’d like to make, but we had to let go of two highly promising young players last summer; it was a necessity.”

The business aspect is increasingly overshadowing the sport itself. I believe we remain in that situation.

Arsenal, Liverpool’s primary competitors for the Premier League title, are reportedly seeking a forward to address their scoring challenges, with Isak being a long-time target for the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Gordon, who was a target for the Reds during the summer, signed a long-term contract extension at St. James’ Park in October.
