๐ฝ๐ง๐๐๐ ๐๐ฃ๐! Liverpool have REJECTED Real Madrid’s approach to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold…
Liverpool has turned down an offer from Real Madrid, which was rejected today.
The discussions did not progress to the point of discussing financial terms, as Liverpool provided no positive feedback to Real Madrid.
The club has declined to engage in negotiations regarding a permanent transfer of Trent Alexander-Arnold during the January transfer window.
According to Times reporter Paul Joyce, Liverpool’s refusal to entertain talks has thwarted Real Madrid’s attempts to secure the player this winter.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract expires at the end of the season, and Real Madrid is keen on acquiring him.
Starting January 1, they will be permitted to negotiate directly with Alexander-Arnold regarding a pre-contract agreement.
Reports from Spain indicate that the 26-year-old has expressed a desire to join Madrid.
The Spanish club was aiming to sign the England international at a reduced price this January, particularly due to injuries that have left their right-back options limited.
With first-choice Dani Carvajal sidelined for the season due to an ACL injury sustained in October, and Lucas Vazquez struggling in that role, Real Madrid sought to bring Trent in and pay a fee to Liverpool for his transfer this January.
Joyce notes that Real Madrid’s approach was rejected on Tuesday, and starting January 1, Trent will be able to communicate with interested foreign clubs.
He also mentions that the likelihood of Trent departing in January has diminished, although a move at the end of his contract remains a possibility.
Trent’s chances of departing in January appear to have diminished, although there remains a possibility he could leave at the conclusion of his contract.
Reports from Spanish media suggest that a deal is nearly finalized. Additionally, it has been noted that the club’s management has been in talks with Trent’s representatives for several months, with no signs indicating he will depart this summer.
By declining an approach at this time, Fenway Sports Group is making a strategic decision, hoping that the right-back can guide them to another Premier League and Champions League title.
This season, Alexander-Arnold has been performing exceptionally well under Arne Slot, recently scoring his first goal of the season against West Ham.
His celebration following that goal seemed to acknowledge the ongoing speculation about his future, with Spanish media reporting last weekend that an agreement with Madrid was nearly complete.
Taking advantage of a brief break, the player traveled to Venice on Monday.
Liverpool will resume their campaign on January 5 against Manchester United.
