Arsenal is poised to finalize the acquisition of Ollie Watkins as Aston Villa secures Marcus Rashford from Manchester United to fill the void left by Watkins.

David Orstein has expressed a strong belief that Watkins will join Arsenal before the transfer deadline on Monday.

With the January transfer window closing in a few days, the excitement continues to build. Arsenal is eager to add a new striker to their roster but has faced a setback with a rejected bid for Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins. However, there remains a glimmer of hope, as reports indicate that personal terms should not pose a problem for the England international. The primary challenge lies in reaching an agreement on a transfer fee with Aston Villa, which may prove to be a complex negotiation.

It appears that Arsenal might have a better chance of signing a £55 million forward rather than securing Watkins.

Despite extensive efforts to find a new center-forward throughout the month, Arsenal has encountered numerous obstacles.

This week, Arsenal’s bid for Ollie Watkins was unsuccessful, and their attempt to acquire Evan Ferguson also fell through.

It seems Arsenal may need to wait until the summer to secure their new striker. Following their recent bid for Watkins, the pressing question is whether they will revisit the possibility of signing the Aston Villa star.

During a discussion on the TalkSPORT Transfer Notebook Podcast, journalist Alex Crook shared insights into Arsenal’s transfer strategy, suggesting that the club may lean towards a younger prospect in the summer, with Benjamin Sesko being a potential target.

Crook noted that acquiring Watkins in the summer would likely exceed £60 million, making Sesko a more viable option for Arsenal.

Marcus Rashford is set to undergo a medical test at Aston Villa today as he approaches the final stages of his departure from Manchester United.

The arrangement will start as a loan until the conclusion of the current season, but it will also feature an option for Villa to acquire Rashford on a permanent basis for a previously established fee, reportedly around £40 million.
