Arsenal is reportedly gearing up to make a record-breaking transfer bid for Alexander Isak, as Newcastle looks for a replacement for their star player.

Arsenal is actively seeking a new striker, with Mikel Arteta particularly interested in one standout player.

While Arsenal has explored various striker options, including Dusan Vlahovic and Jonathan David, neither of these players is the primary target.

Mikel Arteta has a strong admiration for Alexander Isak, making him Arsenal’s top choice for the striker position.

However, securing a deal for Isak poses challenges, given that he is a key player for one of the wealthiest clubs in the world.

In a discussion on Curtis Shaw TV, Ben Jacobs shared insights on Arsenal’s pursuit of Isak, suggesting that the club might consider a mirrored deal this summer, potentially sending another player to Newcastle in exchange.

Jacobs indicated that a two-way deal could facilitate Isak’s transfer to Arsenal.

Such mirrored deals have gained traction recently, especially in light of the Premier League’s new profit and sustainability regulations. For instance, Joe Rodon and Archie Gray exchanged clubs between Tottenham and Leeds last summer, while Newcastle executed a deal involving Elliot Anderson and Odysseas Vlachodimos.

“I anticipate that many clubs will engage in mirrored deals this summer. If Arsenal is keen on Isak, it’s likely they will identify a player that Newcastle desires in return, making the overall transaction more financially viable.

“Clubs have adapted their strategies, moving away from traditional swap deals to these mirrored or separate arrangements.”

Which Arsenal players could Newcastle potentially acquire?

This transaction framework could be beneficial for both clubs, allowing them to navigate profit and sustainability regulations more effectively.

The pressing question is, which Arsenal player would Newcastle be interested in?

Recently, Newcastle has been associated with several Arsenal players. They expressed interest in Oleksandr Zinchenko last year, and Reiss Nelson was also considered a target at one time. Additionally, Leandro Trossard was on Newcastle’s radar before he made the move to Arsenal from Brighton.

To facilitate a transfer for Alexander Isak, valued at around £200 million by some estimates, Arsenal may need to part with one or more of these players.

Completing this deal during the summer transfer window will be challenging, but if Arsenal aims to secure Isak, they might have to send one or two of their existing players to Newcastle.

This is certainly a scenario worth monitoring as we approach the summer.
