‘Bit too slow’: Arne Slot admits to witnessing a Liverpool player’s lack of quickness during the match against Real Betis…
Arne Slot admits to witnessing a Liverpool player being “caught” on several occasions during the match against Real Betis, suggesting that the player’s speed was insufficient.
Arne Slot acknowledges that he observed a Liverpool player being ‘caught’ a few times against Real Betis, describing the performance as ‘a bit too slow’.
Liverpool displayed moments of control in their 1-0 victory over Real Betis, showcasing strong passing abilities throughout the match.
Despite the positive aspects, there was a noticeable lack of attacking threat from Liverpool, indicating room for improvement in that area.
Nonetheless, it was a satisfying sight to witness the new head coach, Arne Slot, on the touchline during the game. Hopefully, he was able to appreciate the experience and gain valuable insights.
Arne Slot emphasized Stefan Bajcetic’s display.
It’s safe to say that most Liverpool supporters who witnessed the match against Betis would agree: Trey Nyoni is truly exceptional.
Following an impressive performance from the 17-year-old, Nyoni has received praise from Dominik Szoboszlai.
However, Nyoni was not the sole young player to make an impact. Vitezslav Jaros performed admirably in goal during the second half, and Ben Doak displayed glimpses of his electrifying talent.
With 13 out of the 23 players utilized by Slot being 21 years old or younger, it was inevitable that there would be a few who struggled to keep up with the pace of the game.
Stefan Bajcetic is one player who could fall into this category. He was seen losing possession a couple of times after being subbed on in the 64th minute.
However, the Spaniard showed improvement as the game progressed, and it is worth noting that he is still recovering from a significant injury.
Interestingly, Slot was specifically asked about Bajcetic’s performance during his post-match press conference.
The head coach pointed out that Stefan’s absence from the game for almost one-and-a-half years should be taken into consideration.
He emphasized the need to give a young player time to readjust after such a long break.
The coach observed both positive and negative moments from Stefan during the game, attributing the slower reactions to his lack of rhythm and game time.
However, he also acknowledged that Stefan showed some promising moments during the half-hour that he played.
Liverpool is expecting Stefan Bajcetic to rise to the occasion.
Despite a few lapses in his performance last Saturday, it’s important to recognize that the 19-year-old also showed some promising aspects of his game.
After being out of action for a while, Bajcetic needs time to regain his form. Nevertheless, his talent is undeniable.
With Nyoni making strides, Bajcetic must now elevate his game once more.
It’s worth noting that when Curtis Jones got injured, Slot opted for the younger Nyoni instead of Bajcetic.
This decision could be a strategy to manage the minutes of the Spain U21 player. However, given Slot’s system, it’s crucial for Bajcetic to demonstrate his abilities throughout the remainder of pre-season.
