Liverpool star Diogo Jota is likely to miss the upcoming match against RB Leipzig, raising concerns ahead of the clash with Arsenal.

Following Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea, head coach Arne Slot provided an update on Jota’s injury.

The win at Anfield allowed Liverpool to reclaim the top position in the Premier League, thanks to a penalty from Mo Salah and a goal from Curtis Jones in the second half.

However, the match was marred by Jota’s early exit in the 30th minute after being fouled by Tosin Adarabioyo just seven minutes into the game.

As Liverpool prepares for a challenging schedule, including a Champions League encounter with RB Leipzig on Wednesday and a crucial match against title contenders Arsenal next weekend, Slot expressed doubts about Jota’s availability for the Leipzig match.

He stated, “Diogo had to be substituted. I’m not sure what it is but I’d be surprised if he was here on Wednesday.”

Arne Slot provided an update on Diogo Jota’s injury and the overall fitness of the squad.

Liverpool is currently assessing the severity of the injury that led to Jota’s early exit during their 2-1 victory against Chelsea on Sunday.

Slot does not anticipate Jota being fit for the upcoming match against RB Leipzig.

The forward was substituted in the first half, with Darwin Nunez stepping in after 30 minutes.

Jota will undergo evaluation by the club’s medical staff, but Slot expects him to miss the Champions League fixture in Germany on Wednesday.

Slot commented, “Diogo had to come off, and while I’m uncertain about the specifics, I would be surprised if he is available for Wednesday.”

Additionally, Slot mentioned that Liverpool faced several fitness issues leading up to the Chelsea match.

“I have great faith in this team, but it was evident today—following the international break—that we encountered some challenges,” he noted.

“Conor Bradley is unavailable; Trent [Alexander-Arnold] was also not training in the initial days after returning, which made him a doubt before the match. Furthermore, we had Macca [Alexis Mac Allister] dealing with illness.”
