Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich responds to Liverpool transfer links…

Joshua Kimmich has not dismissed the idea of leaving Bayern Munich this summer, however, he remains calm about the ongoing situation.

The 29-year-old, known as one of the top midfielders in European football, is in the last 18 months of his contract at the Allianz Arena and negotiations for an extension have hit a roadblock.

Europe’s top clubs are closely monitoring the situation, as Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are all preparing potential moves for Kimmich before the upcoming summer transfer window.

Newcastle made a bold attempt to sign Kimmich from Bayern in January, but the player was not interested in leaving the Bundesliga champions during the middle of the season.

With Kimmich’s contract expiring in 2025, Bayern might be inclined to sell him while they still have the opportunity during the summer transfer window.

Thomas Tuchel’s imminent departure has added a layer of complexity to the situation in Munich, however, Kimmich remains composed as Bayern strives to close the gap on Xabi Alonso’s dominant Bayer Leverkusen.

Kimmich shared with German newspaper Die Welt, “I have a clear perspective on the situation. With more than a year remaining on my contract, I am at ease.”

“At present, the identity of our new coach for the upcoming season remains uncertain. It is indeed intriguing and crucial to learn who will assume the role.”

“My primary focus is on ensuring a successful season, both in the Bundesliga and the Champions League.”

“Following that, my attention will shift to the Euros. These are the key priorities at hand.”

Kimmich noted that Bayern has deviated from tradition in recent years, experiencing a high turnover of coaches including Niko Kovac, Hansi Flick, Julian Nagelsmann, and Tuchel within a span of six years.

He mentioned that having so many coaches in such a short period is unusual for the club. Kimmich also pointed out that the trend of shorter coaching tenures and lack of patience is becoming more common in football, with exceptions like Liverpool, Manchester City, Heidenheim, and Freiburg.

Currently, Bayern is trailing Bundesliga leaders Leverkusen by ten points after 26 games, a gap that Kimmich finds challenging to accept.

It frustrates him to see the current Bundesliga table, he admitted.

‘When you begin the season with Bayern, the goal is to win the championship.

‘However, I must acknowledge that Bayer Leverkusen is having a remarkable season. We are not performing well.

He further stated: ‘There are still points available – we are not ruling them out yet.

‘Nevertheless, we recognize that Leverkusen is in good form.

‘We approach each game with the intention to win. We cannot control Leverkusen’s performance.’
