Arteta has decided to omit the £46 million star, introducing four key alterations to the projected Arsenal lineup (4-2-3-1) for their upcoming clash with Sporting CP.

Arsenal will take on Sporting Lisbon in an away match during today’s Champions League fixture.

The Gunners secured a convincing 3-0 victory against Nottingham Forest last weekend at the Emirates Stadium, marking a return to form.

Attention now turns to the group stage of the Champions League, where Arsenal currently sits two points behind the automatic qualification spots for the last 16.

The London club faces a challenging encounter against a strong Sporting CP side, but manager Mikel Arteta will be aiming for nothing less than a win.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Line-up:

David Raya has established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper in both Premier League and Champions League matches.

He has been outstanding, making crucial saves and recently achieving his first clean sheet since mid-October. He is expected to start in goal.

In front of him, the defensive lineup is likely to remain unchanged from the victory against Forest.

Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori will occupy the right and left-back positions, respectively, with William Saliba partnering Gabriel Magalhaes in central defense.

Jorginho had a notable first half on Saturday, showcasing his distribution skills but was substituted at halftime due to a yellow card.

He may find himself on the bench tonight, alongside Mikel Merino.

Merino impressed with his late runs into the box, but both players are likely to be replaced by Thomas Partey and Declan Rice.

Rice, who has been recovering from a broken toe, was an unused substitute last weekend.

In the attacking lineup, we expect two changes. Gabriel Jesus struggled to pose a threat in the box, despite his effective link-up play. He was also prone to losing possession during counter-attacks.

Leandro Trossard performed better in terms of dribbling and creating chances from the left wing, but both players are anticipated to be replaced.

Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli are expected to return to the starting eleven after missing the weekend’s match against Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.

The remainder of the attack should remain the same. Bukayo Saka delivered an outstanding performance from the right wing on Saturday, contributing both a goal and an assist.

Martin Odegaard excelled in his combination play with Saka and deserved more than just an assist for his impressive display.
