Arsenal’s Edu has finalized a shortlist of 10 players for the upcoming summer transfer window as Edu faces £209m transfer decision…
Arsenal’s Edu has compiled a list of 10 potential signings for the upcoming summer transfer window, while also facing a major decision regarding a £209m transfer.
Arsenal is currently evaluating potential options for a striker in the upcoming summer transfer window, with sporting director Edu taking the lead in compiling a list of potential targets for Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal is currently evaluating potential options for the upcoming summer transfer window, with a striker being a priority on Mikel Arteta’s agenda.
Arsenal’s sporting director, Edu, is currently gathering information on potential top-quality strikers as the club prepares for the upcoming summer transfer window.
Mikel Arteta has made it clear that acquiring a striker is a priority for the team.
Despite being linked with striker signings in the previous transfer windows, Arsenal, like many other Premier League clubs, refrained from making significant investments in January due to financial fair play considerations.
The Gunners have refrained from making significant investments in the past two transfer windows, in line with financial fair play regulations. Last summer, Arsenal spent £105 million on Declan Rice and £65 million on Kai Havertz, resulting in a £52.1 million loss for the year ending on May 31, 2023.
Arsenal’s financial constraints prevented them from making a big-money signing for a top-quality striker in January.
However, this decision has proven to be wise as Arteta’s team has been scoring goals consistently in 2024.
Nevertheless, Arsenal is aware of the need to strengthen their attacking options, especially with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah being the only recognized center-forwards currently available.
The urgency to bolster their attacking lineup is further emphasized by the continuous speculation surrounding Nketiah’s potential departure, with Crystal Palace expressing interest.
While Brentford’s Ivan Toney has been a long-term target for Arsenal, they are cautious about getting involved in a bidding war, as Thomas Frank has set a hefty price tag of £100m for his star player.
In addition to Toney, Arsenal has also been monitoring Benjamin Sesko, who has impressed with 11 goals in 34 games since joining RB Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg last summer.
However, Sesko is just one of several young strikers being evaluated by sporting director Edu.
According to football.london, Arsenal is among the clubs interested in Viktor Gyokeres, who has been in excellent form since moving to Sporting Lisbon from Coventry last year.
Gyokeres, 25 years old, has an impressive record of 36 goals and 14 assists in 39 games across all competitions this season. With his height and speed, he possesses the qualities needed to excel in the Premier League.
However, there are several other players being closely watched. Arsenal previously pursued Alexander Isak in January 2022 and could capitalize on Newcastle’s financial difficulties to sign him this summer.
The Swedish international was acquired by the Magpies for £60m from Real Sociedad and is contracted until June 2028, making him a potentially expensive option.
Another high-priced alternative is Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who may secure a big-money move in the upcoming transfer window. Edu, Arsenal’s technical director, also has more affordable options to consider.
Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, 22 years old, has scored 24 goals this season, while Brian Brobbey might be seeking a new challenge after facing challenges at Ajax.
Arsenal is familiar with Porto’s Evanilson, as they recently faced him in their Champions League last-16 tie.
The 24-year-old Brazilian has scored 22 goals and provided six assists this season. On the other hand, Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface, aged 23, has netted 16 goals and contributed nine assists.
Lois Openda is another player making waves in Germany, having earned a spot in the Belgium national team after impressing with Leipzig.
The 24-year-old striker has scored 23 goals this season, including two against Manchester City in the Champions League.
Arsenal is closely monitoring the market, and their ability to attract top strikers in Europe would certainly be enhanced by a successful campaign in either the Premier League or Champions League.
