Arsenal’s lineup against Liverpool is expected to be missing Thomas Partey once again, as he continues to recover from an injury setback. However, there is some positive news for the Gunners as Gabriel Jesus is expected to be fit for the highly anticipated clash against their title rivals.

Thomas Partey has been sidelined since October due to a thigh problem, but he recently resumed training and could potentially make a return in Tuesday’s game against Nottingham Forest.

Partey was unable to participate in the match at the City Ground, and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has recently announced that he will also be absent from today’s game against Liverpool.

The Ghanaian player has experienced a setback, and Arsenal is currently awaiting further information regarding the duration of his absence.

“Unfortunately, Thomas encountered a minor setback a few days ago,” Arteta stated.

“He will not be included in the squad. We will assess whether it will be a matter of days or weeks. However, he experienced a minor issue…”

Arteta expressed his concern about Partey’s fitness issues, emphasizing his importance to the team. He acknowledged that Partey’s absence has been prolonged, and his unique contributions are sorely missed.

Regarding Gabriel Jesus, Arteta confirmed that he should be ready to play against Liverpool, as he has been managing his knee injury and participating in training sessions.

Arteta now faces a dilemma in choosing between Emile Smith Rowe and Kai Havertz for the starting midfield position, with Smith Rowe hoping to be given the opportunity.

Arsenal’s starting lineup for the match on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the Emirates Stadium against an undisclosed opponent will consist of the following players in a 4-3-3 formation: Raya as the goalkeeper, with White, Saliba, Gabriel, and Zinchenko forming the defensive line. In midfield, Odegaard, Rice, and Havertz will provide the creative and defensive support. Upfront, Saka, Jesus, and Martinelli will lead the attacking line.

The match will kick off at 4.30pm GMT, with Anthony Taylor serving as the referee.

The Arsenal squad for the game includes Ramsdale, Raya, Hein, Gabriel, Cedric, Kiwior, Saliba, White, Zinchenko, Elneny, Havertz, Jorginho, Odegaard, Rice, Smith Rowe, Jesus, Martinelli, Nelson, Nketiah, Saka, and Trossard.

Unfortunately, Partey, Timber, and Vieira will be unavailable due to injuries, while Tomiyasu will be absent as he participates in the Asian Cup.
