Arsenal Transfer Update: Viktor Gyokeres Situation and £50m Agreement

Arsenal is gearing up for an active January transfer window, aiming to bolster their squad while also offloading some less utilized players.

The Gunners returned to form in the Premier League with a commanding 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Gabriel Jesus scored twice, with additional goals from Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, and Declan Rice, bringing Arsenal within three points of league leaders Liverpool, who have two games in hand.

In light of their title aspirations, Arsenal is expected to pursue new signings in the upcoming transfer window, with several players already linked to a move to the Emirates.

Discussions for Gyokeres

Reports indicate that Arsenal is in negotiations to acquire Viktor Gyokeres, the Sporting striker who has netted 27 goals in 25 matches this season.

According to Football Transfers, manager Mikel Arteta is keen to add a new striker, and the club is currently ‘in contact’ with Gyokeres.

Sporting has reportedly set a price tag of approximately €65 million (£54 million) for the 26-year-old.

Additionally, Arsenal continues to show interest in RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, having previously attempted to secure his services during the summer before he opted to extend his contract.

£50m Agreement Reached

Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that Arsenal has reached an ‘agreement in principle’ to sign Alberto Moleiro from Las Palmas.

The report suggests that Arteta sees Moleiro as a midfielder akin to club captain Martin Odegaard, with Arsenal prepared to activate his €60 million (£50 million) release clause next summer.

Moleiro has made a notable impact for Las Palmas this season, scoring four goals in 17 appearances, and an official announcement regarding his future could be forthcoming in the next few months.

Arsenal has been advised to pursue a new striker in the upcoming transfer window, as former player Jermaine Pennant emphasizes the necessity of a reliable goalscorer for the team to compete for the league title.

“A new number nine should be a top priority for Arsenal in January,” Pennant stated in an interview with Casino Apps.

“To win or even contend for the league, you need to consider what successful teams have in common: a striker who can deliver 20-25 goals per season. Arsenal currently lacks that.”

“Arsenal faces challenges due to their heavy reliance on Bukayo Saka; if he doesn’t find the net, it’s hard to see where the goals will come from.

“While Gabriel Martinelli positions himself well, he struggles to convert those opportunities into goals.”
