Barcelona is currently facing financial challenges and has hinted at the possibility of selling a highly valued player worth £51m to Arsenal.

Barcelona, facing challenges with Financial Fair Play regulations, have hinted to Arsenal that they might be willing to part ways with one of their key players.

Historically, Arsenal have experienced losing top talents to Barcelona, such as Thierry Henry and Cesc Fabregas.

However, in 2024 with Mikel Arteta at the helm, Arsenal presents a new scenario – a club with solid financial stability and ambitious goals.

Due to the transition to the Emirates Stadium, Arsene Wenger frequently had to let go of his star players, a circumstance that has fortunately evolved.

It seemed like a far-fetched idea when news broke that Arsenal was eyeing Barcelona’s Jules Kounde, a key player for the Spanish club who is currently showcasing his skills at Euro 2024 with France.

Nonetheless, a recent update from Sport in Spain suggests that Arsenal might have a real shot at securing the services of the ‘fantastic’ defender, albeit for a hefty price tag of at least £51m.

Barcelona is reportedly open to selling Kounde to Arsenal, but under certain conditions, as they are facing financial challenges and are seeking solutions this summer.

Barcelona has identified six players that they will not consider selling, including Marc Andre Ter Stegen, Hector Fort, Pau Cubarsi, Gavi, Fermin, and Lamine Yamal.

However, they are open to offers for the rest of the team, including Kounde. While Barcelona values Kounde as part of their project, they are open to entertaining offers from Arsenal.

The potential sale of Kounde to Arsenal depends on the future of Ronald Araujo. If Araujo remains with Barcelona, they may consider selling Kounde to Arsenal.

However, if Araujo leaves, Arsenal will need to seek a new defender elsewhere.

Barcelona has informed Arsenal that Kounde will not be sold for less than €60m, which they believe is a reasonable price for a 25-year-old player at the peak of his career.

Maybe this schedule could also work for Arsenal, as they might view Kounde as a luxury signing that they can take advantage of, rather than a player they absolutely need.

However, if Kounde does join, he would enhance Arteta’s defensive choices, being able to partner with William Saliba in the center and Ben White on the right.

Even though Saliba has performed well in Euro 2024, Kounde has shown that he is not inferior, displaying his impressive skills.
