Arsenal officials are considering a £35m deal to secure the signature of an “exceptional” player before Liverpool…
Arsenal officials are considering a £35m move to sign an “incredible” star ahead of Liverpool, potentially leaving Ben White fighting for his place in the team.
While the focus remains on the Premier League title race, reports indicate that Arsenal is also looking ahead to the summer transfer window to secure a player who could be a champion by May.
The race for the title is expected to be intense, with the outcome likely to be decided in the final moments of the season. Arsenal’s previous heartbreak against Manchester City could be replaced by a potential upset against Liverpool, depending on the Merseysiders’ results.
Arsenal’s focus this summer has primarily been on strengthening their attacking options, particularly in the striker position. While there have been reports linking them to strikers like Viktor Gyokeres, who possesses the killer instinct that Gabriel Jesus lacks, the Gunners are also exploring other areas of improvement.
One such area is the right-back position, with Arsenal reportedly eyeing a move for Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen. This interest puts Arsenal in competition with Liverpool and Manchester United for Frimpong’s signature.
Frimpong’s impressive campaign has caught the attention of clubs, and with a release clause of just £35m, Arsenal sees him as a potential bargain. This potential signing would provide competition for current right-back Ben White and give him something to consider in terms of his position at the club.
Frimpong’s contributions to Leverkusen’s unbeaten season and their pursuit of dethroning Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga further highlight his appeal to clubs like Arsenal.
Frimpong possesses qualities that White lacks, making him an incredible addition to the team. While White’s defensive skills are unquestionable, there are doubts about his attacking capabilities.
It’s easy to overlook the fact that he is primarily a center-back, given the remarkable job he has done on the flank this season. However, this raises the question of whether Frimpong is defensively strong enough to fit into Mikel Arteta’s system and transition from a back five in Germany.
The only way to truly determine this is by comparing Frimpong’s statistics to White’s, which provide a clear picture.
Frimpong’s ascent has been anticipated for some time, as former Celtic manager Neil Lennon has previously praised his abilities. In an interview with the official Bundesliga website, Lennon stated, “I have never seen a more talented young player than him.
His style of play, speed, and end product are exceptional. His level of fitness is incredible, and the fans have really embraced him.”
