Arsenal may be on the verge of concluding their search for a striker, with reports suggesting a potential £70 million bid.

Claims suggest that Arsenal is looking to make a £70m bid for a potential striker, which could finally solve their search for a new forward.

The forward is reportedly feeling ‘discontent’ under Pep Guardiola at their Premier League rivals, Manchester City.

Arsenal is reportedly prepared to meet Manchester City’s asking price for Argentinian international Julian Alvarez.

Despite being overshadowed by Erling Haaland, the 24-year-old has made a significant impact at the club, netting 36 goals and providing 18 assists in 103 appearances across all competitions.

According to Football Transfers, Arsenal has now entered the competition to secure his signature.

Kevin de Bruyne’s absence due to injury for a significant part of the previous season led Guardiola to frequently utilize Alvarez in the attacking midfield role, where his passion and possession skills enabled him to excel.

In addition to his World Cup victory and two Premier League titles, Alvarez has also secured two Copa America triumphs, with the most recent one in 2024.

Alvarez made history by becoming the first player ever to achieve a World Cup victory and a continental treble in the same season after winning the 2022 World Cup.

Arsenal has been scouting various striker options in the current transfer window, with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, Manchester United’s new signing Joshua Zirkzee, and Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres among the targets.

However, it seems that Alvarez has now emerged as the latest target on their radar, although they face competition from Atletico Madrid and PSG in the race to secure his signature.

Reports suggest that the Argentinian is one of three Manchester City players rumored to be dissatisfied under Pep Guardiola, but the club seems hesitant to part ways with him due to the high price tag associated with his transfer.

The forward has been valued at £70m by the Premier League champions, but according to the latest report from Football Transfers, Arsenal is prepared to meet Man City’s demands by offering €82 million (£70m) to secure his signature this summer.

It is important to mention that Guardiola’s team will only agree to a transfer if a suitable replacement is lined up, with emergency discussions already planned. Alvarez, who joined Manchester City in 2022, is reportedly unhappy in England and is pushing for a move away.

Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid have shown interest in the 24-year-old, while Arsenal, despite their admiration for him, have not made any inquiries yet.

Ivan Toney is being considered as a potential replacement if Alvarez leaves, although there have been no concrete developments as of now.
