Arsenal has plans to part ways with three of their starting XI players in the upcoming January transfer period.

The club is preparing to sell three essential first-team members as part of their January transfer strategy.

Arsenal is reportedly planning to offload three key first-team players during the January transfer window to generate funds for reinvestment in Mikel Arteta’s squad.

This information comes from Mick Brown, a former scout for Manchester United and Tottenham, who shared insights with Football Insider regarding the potential departures of Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Kieran Tierney.

Brown previously indicated that Arsenal is open to offers for Jesus, who has attracted significant interest from other clubs.

Meanwhile, both Tierney and Zinchenko, each 27 years old, have been identified as surplus to requirements within the squad.

Tierney has yet to make an appearance for Arsenal this season after a loan spell at Real Sociedad last year, while Zinchenko’s role has diminished since his arrival in 2022, particularly following the signing of Riccardo Calafiori.

Consequently, Arsenal aims to generate interest in these players, believing that the proceeds from their sales could be utilized to address weaknesses in the squad.

Brown noted that the Gunners are focused on enhancing their squad depth across all positions and that player exits may be necessary to facilitate this.

He emphasized the club’s intention to raise funds and reduce their wage expenses ahead of the transfer window.

“There are three players at the club they’d be looking to sell,” he stated. “And that’s Gabriel Jesus, Zinchenko, and Kieran Tierney.

“They’re not in the manager’s plans. When it comes to sales, you have to look at who your assets are.”

There has been notable interest in Saliba, but he is likely one of the last players the club would consider selling for any financial gain.

If the club needs to generate funds, they are more inclined to look at other players for potential sales.

This approach would significantly reduce the wage bill and enable them to reinvest in enhancing their squad.

Often, the strategy involves allowing some peripheral players to depart, generating funds from their sales, and subsequently refreshing the squad with new backup options.

While it may seem counterintuitive, this strategy is effective in keeping the squad dynamic and introducing new alternatives.

This is particularly relevant if certain players are no longer deemed fit for their roles or if there are superior options available in their positions.

Therefore, I anticipate that these are the players they will prioritize for sales.

In related news, Arsenal has addressed Real Madrid’s interest in William Saliba.
