Arsenal is planning a January bid for an African speedster, as Mikel Arteta focused on replacing a key player…
Arsenal is reportedly considering a January transfer for an African winger as Mikel Arteta seeks to fill the gap left by a key player.
According to reports, Arsenal is targeting an African speedster in January as Arteta seeks to find a replacement for an important team member.
This remarkably talented winger is viewed as one of the finest players in the world today, positioning him as the best option for Mikel Arteta in the pursuit of the league championship.
The team has been dealt a significant blow with Bukayo Saka suffering a serious hamstring injury during their recent victory over Crystal Palace.
Following surgery, Arteta has indicated that Saka is expected to be sidelined for approximately two months.
Although Arteta had initially planned to secure a backup for the right winger next year, the urgency of the situation may prompt Arsenal to expedite their search for a replacement in January, especially given the lack of natural right wingers in the squad.
As per Milan Live (via 90min), Arsenal is targeting AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze in the upcoming winter transfer window.
The 25-year-old has had limited playing time with the Rossoneri this season but has made an impact off the bench, contributing three goals and an assist across all competitions.
Despite being a valuable squad player, it is reported that Paulo Fonseca is willing to part with Chukwueze for around £17 million.
Arsenal may attempt to negotiate a lower fee by including Jakub Kiwior in the deal.
A strategic acquisition for Arsenal
The anticipated extended absence of Bukayo Saka was not part of Arsenal’s strategy, making it crucial for them to secure a reliable option for the right wing in January.
Samuel Chukwueze could serve as an effective short-term solution, capable of stepping into the starting lineup until Saka returns to full fitness.
Chukwueze is known for his dynamic play as a right winger, excelling in one-on-one matchups against defenders.
In addition to being a strong creative force, he possesses a powerful shot and impressive speed.
Having demonstrated his abilities at both Milan and Villarreal, the Nigerian international would likely embrace the opportunity to compete in England, particularly with the promise of significant playing time over the next couple of months.
Arsenal’s choices will be constrained during the winter transfer window, as few clubs are likely to part with their essential players midway through the season.
However, acquiring Chukwueze could provide them with a player who has the potential to significantly impact the latter half of the 2024/25 season and beyond.
Investing £17 million is not a substantial amount for Arsenal, but it would be advantageous if they could also offload Jakub Kiwior in a possible swap arrangement.
