Arsenal have been associated with two of the most promising young talents in European football.

If Arsenal can successfully secure signings from Sporting CP, manager Mikel Arteta could assemble an impressive starting lineup for the upcoming season.

The club’s owners demonstrated their support for the Spaniard last summer by allowing him to indulge in a £200 million spending spree. Currently, there are rumors linking the Gunners to Ousmane Diomande and Viktor Gyokeres.

The Premier League leaders are reportedly among the top contenders to sign both players, as stated by Portuguese newspaper O Jogo. Diomande, a talented Ivorian center back, has impressed at the club level since his arrival from Midtjylland in January 2023.

He also played a crucial role in his country’s victory in the African Cup of Nations this year.

Despite being just 20 years old, Diomande’s acquisition would be seen as a wise long-term investment for the club. However, his contract with Sporting is safeguarded by a £69 million release clause, which means that any potential suitors would have to meet this hefty price tag.

On the other hand, securing the services of Gyokores would require Stan Kroenke and his associates to dig even deeper into their pockets.

The talented forward has been a revelation in the 2023/24 season, showcasing his goal-scoring prowess. After spells with Swansea and Coventry City, he joined the latter for a fee of £17 million. Since then, he has impressively found the back of the net 36 times in just 39 appearances.

The 25-year-old Swedish international is valued at approximately £85 million. Arsenal fans may see Gyokores as the missing piece needed for the team to secure major trophies, given the perceived lack of a clinical finisher in Arteta’s squad.

Scouts have been sent to observe both players, but acquiring them will not be an easy task. Several other clubs are also interested, including Manchester United, who are reportedly keen on Gyokores.

Financial Fair Play regulations may pose a challenge, as the club could exceed £150 million in spending. Arteta may need to sell players to finance a double deal, especially with the Premier League becoming stricter following points deductions for Everton and Nottingham Forest.

If the club manages to successfully complete the coup, Arteta could potentially have one of the strongest line-ups in European football. This could mean tough competition for players like Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Jesus, but it would guarantee a squad filled with talent, depth, and strength.

Potential Arsenal XI: Raya; White, Saliba, DIOMANDE, Timber; Rice, Odegaard, Havertz; Saka, GYOKERES, Martinelli.
