Arsenal are considered the top contenders to secure the €70m Chelsea forward, with Mikel Arteta confident that the player will adapt well to his style of play…
Arsenal is reportedly a strong contender to secure the services of Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk in the upcoming summer transfer window, as per reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes.
Mudryk was a prime target for the Gunners in January 2023, but Chelsea managed to outbid them and secure his signature with a more lucrative transfer offer.
The 22-year-old Ukrainian was signed by Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk for an initial fee of €70 million (£60m). Despite making 43 appearances, he has not fully met the expectations placed on him.
Fichajes reports that the Blues are currently exploring their options and may be willing to approve a loan agreement for the struggling forward this summer. There is also a possibility of a definitive sale to recoup their initial investment, although this is considered a less likely scenario at the moment.
The winger has garnered interest from Juventus and Arsenal, with both clubs emerging as the top contenders to secure his services.
Arsenal is unlikely to pursue Mudryk’s services again, as the Blues thwarted their attempts to sign him as their preferred attacking target in January last year. This turn of events turned out to be beneficial for Mikel Arteta’s team, as they went on to acquire Leandro Trossard from Brighton & Hove Albion, who has excelled since joining the club.
Trossard has been exceptional while wearing the Gunners shirt, scoring 11 goals and providing 12 assists in 53 appearances. His average goal contribution stands at an impressive 106 minutes per game.
In contrast, Mudryk has faced a challenging period with the Blues, managing only four goals and five assists. He has an average of 208 minutes per goal involvement.
It is evident that Arsenal made a more favorable deal. Not only did Trossard cost only one-third of the investment (£21m), but he is also currently experiencing the peak of his career.
In our perspective, it seems unlikely that Mudryk will have a future with Arsenal. The team already possesses sufficient quality on the left wing with players like Gabriel Martinelli, Trossard, Reiss Nelson, and Emile Smith Rowe.
Trossard possesses the additional skill to operate as a forward, whereas Mudryk predominantly favors the left-wing position. It is unlikely that the Gunners will seek his services at this moment in time.
Mudryk has not met the lofty expectations placed upon him, and he may opt for a temporary transfer as his next career move. It is highly probable that he will seek a fresh challenge in a different league.
