Arne Slot’s move to Liverpool is drawing nearer as Jurgen Klopp shares his views on a potential successor.
The potential appointment of Arne Slot as the new manager of Liverpool is becoming increasingly likely, as Jurgen Klopp shares his thoughts on a possible successor.
Liverpool officials are optimistic about finalizing a deal with the 45-year-old Feyenoord manager, as the Dutch club has shown willingness to engage in negotiations.
Negotiations have progressed significantly on Friday, following Slot’s public statement expressing his desire to join Anfield on Thursday evening.
After Feyenoord’s 3-1 victory over Go Ahead Eagles on Thursday, which effectively ended their chances of retaining the Eredivisie title against PSV Eindhoven, Slot spoke openly about his future for the first time.
“The negotiations between the clubs are ongoing. I am eagerly anticipating the outcome,” he stated.
“It is well known that I have a strong desire to join Liverpool. At present, I am patiently waiting for the clubs to come to an agreement. I have complete faith in their ability to do so.”
Liverpool’s pursuit of the Dutchman will come at a price, as Feyenoord is expected to receive approximately £8.5 million solely for Slot, without including his backroom team if they were to accompany him to Merseyside.
Prior to Liverpool’s upcoming match against West Ham on Saturday, Klopp was questioned about his potential successor, and he expressed his full support.
“I want to clarify that I am not involved in the process,” stated the departing Liverpool manager. “However, I am highly impressed by many aspects of it, if he is indeed the chosen one. He is eager to take on the role. Let’s embrace it and move forward. I am thrilled.”
“I admire the way his team plays football. From what I’ve heard about him as a person, he seems like a genuinely good guy. Although I haven’t personally met him, some acquaintances of mine have and they speak highly of him. The feedback I’ve received about him being a really good guy resonates with me and I appreciate that a lot.”
” He is not only a good coach but also a good person. If he becomes the solution or the man for the club, I am eagerly looking forward to it. While it’s not my place to pass judgment on these matters, everything I’ve heard so far sounds extremely promising to me.”
In my opinion, this is the greatest job in the world, at the best club in the world. Even though our recent performance may not have been ideal, I believe there is room for improvement.
The job is fantastic, the team is great, and the people involved are truly amazing. If he were to take on this opportunity, it would be a truly fascinating job.
