Arne Slot sets sights on Atalanta standout after an outstanding display against Liverpool. The talented Dutch midfielder has a prior connection with Slot, having played under him during their time at AZ Alkmaar.

Arne Slot has set his sights on securing the services of Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners as his inaugural signing for Liverpool.

The Dutch midfielder played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s triumph over Liverpool in the Europa League, which ultimately dashed Jurgen Klopp’s hopes of European success.

Koopmeiners, who previously played under Slot at AZ Alkmaar, has been valued at £50 million.

The impending arrival of Slot as Feyenoord manager at Anfield has paved the way for this potential transfer, with an agreement already in place between the two clubs.

Sport Mediaset, an Italian outlet, has reported that Liverpool is interested in signing Teun Koopmeiners for the upcoming season.

The Reds are expected to face competition from Juventus, a prominent Serie A club, in their pursuit of the Atalanta star during the summer transfer window.

Teun Koopmeiners, who previously played under Arne Slot at AZ Alkmaar, has reportedly been targeted as Slot’s first signing for Liverpool. If the transfer goes through, Koopmeiners would reunite with Slot at Anfield.

Atalanta has set an asking price of £50 million for the 26-year-old midfielder.

Koopmeiners has had an exceptional season with Atalanta, a club based in Bergamo. He has scored 14 goals and provided five assists from the midfield position in 43 appearances.

Recently, Atalanta surprised Liverpool in the Europa League quarter-finals. In the first leg at Anfield, Atalanta won 3-0, leaving Liverpool stunned.

Although Liverpool won the second leg 1-0, they were unable to overcome the deficit, ending Jurgen Klopp’s hopes of a memorable European farewell with the Reds.

Atalanta will now face Marseille in the Europa League semi-finals, with the first leg scheduled for Thursday. Additionally, Gian Piero Gasperini’s team has also reached the Coppa Italia final and will face Juventus on May 15.
