Arne Slot offers an update on Andy Robertson’s injury ahead of Liverpool’s match against Bologna.

In preparation for the Champions League clash against Bologna, Arne Slot gives an update on the injury situation concerning Andy Robertson.

Liverpool’s left-back Andy Robertson had to leave the field late in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Wolves following a collision with Carlos Forbs, but Arne Slot is not overly concerned about the situation.

Slot has eased concerns regarding Robertson’s fitness after the defender was substituted during the final moments of their hard-fought win against Wolves.

The match tested Liverpool’s resolve as Rayan Ait-Nouri equalized Ibrahima Konate’s opening goal, but Mohamed Salah secured the victory with a penalty after Diogo Jota was fouled in the box.

This victory placed Liverpool at the top of the Premier League standings, but attention quickly shifted to Robertson’s condition after he was injured in a challenge with the energetic substitute Carlos Forbs, leading to Joe Gomez stepping in.

Despite this, Slot remains hopeful about the left-back’s recovery, expecting the Scotland international to return to training at the AXA Training Centre on Monday.

“I don’t foresee it being a significant issue, although there are always uncertainties,” Slot stated. “It seems he just took a knock towards the end of the match, and perhaps he was a bit fatigued as well.

“The player who came on, Forbs, I was familiar with from the Dutch league, and he certainly made it a tough contest. He also received a bit of a knock, but I anticipate Robertson will be back in training on Monday; we’ll have to wait and see.

“The initial 15 minutes were challenging for us. Wolves had a week to prepare, and with a highly capable manager like Gary O’Neil, who is tactically astute and devises effective game plans, they posed a real challenge.”

Slot commented on the tactical difficulties they encountered, stating: “We were prepared for this, but it takes time to see how he approaches the game.

“He effectively overloaded our right side, which made it hard for us to control the match in the first 15-20 minutes.”

He then contemplated the change in momentum: “Once things settled down a bit, the energy from Wolves diminished, and I believe we began to take greater control of the match.

“It didn’t surprise me when we scored, as we were improving consistently, and we had a significant opportunity with Dominik Szoboszlai.”

Nevertheless, Slot conveyed his disappointment regarding the goal conceded: “I was nearly taken aback when we allowed a goal in the second half, as we had significantly more control during that period compared to the first half.

“The goal we conceded was one that could have been avoided, to put it mildly.”
