Liverpool provides a significant injury update regarding Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Arne Slot provided a significant injury update regarding Trent Alexander-Arnold, expressing concerns that the Liverpool manager anticipates a prolonged absence for the player.
Alexander-Arnold exited during the first half of Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa.
Arne Slot expressed concerns that Trent Alexander-Arnold may have suffered a serious injury during the match, indicating he would be surprised if his vice-captain is available to play for England this week.
The 26-year-old left the field limping, potentially due to a hamstring issue, which raises doubts about his participation in the upcoming Nations League fixtures against Greece and the Republic of Ireland.
Under interim manager Lee Carsley, Alexander-Arnold has been a consistent starter in all four matches, having scored in last month’s victory over Finland.
Other right-back options in the squad for the November matches include Kyle Walker, Rico Lewis, and Ezri Konsa.
Following the international break, Liverpool will face Real Madrid and Manchester City in their next two matches, followed by a trip to Newcastle and a Merseyside derby.
Slot is awaiting further assessment on Alexander-Arnold’s condition and is concerned about the potential duration of his absence.
He stated, “It is challenging to determine the severity at this moment, but it is always concerning when a player leaves the field in the first half. It’s not a good sign, especially since he indicated he felt something was wrong.
“While it’s difficult to provide an accurate diagnosis so soon after the match, we will have to wait for more information.
“I would be surprised if he is able to play for the England national team this week, but I remain hopeful.”
Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah both scored against Villa, with Slot praising the Egyptian forward, remarking, “I believe he has the best statistics among all our attackers.
“While all our forwards perform well, Mo truly stands out in this regard.”
