Arne Slot identifies a new target for Liverpool who could serve as a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah.

Arne Slot is targeting a new addition for Liverpool that could fulfill the role of Mohamed Salah’s long-term successor.

Liverpool is considering the addition of another forward who may become a protégé of a club icon. Manager Arne Slot has reignited the club’s enduring interest in PSV winger Johan Bakayoko.

After a notably quiet transfer window, he is eager to secure the Belgian’s services at Anfield, having previously stated that any new acquisition must be of world-class caliber.

This development follows Liverpool’s unsuccessful attempt to sign Euro 2024 champion Martin Zubimendi, who opted to extend his contract with Real Sociedad.

RB Leipzig and AC Milan have also shown interest in Bakayoko, as reported by OneFootball. Leipzig was exploring options to replace Dani Olmo, who is heading to Barcelona, but has since opted for Antonio Nusa from Club Brugge.

For nearly a year, Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah has been the subject of speculation regarding a potential move to the Saudi Pro League, yet he has consistently turned down the league’s lucrative offers.

Since joining Anfield in 2017, Salah has netted over 200 goals for Liverpool, making him the club’s all-time leading scorer in the Premier League.

For nearly a year, Liverpool icon Mohamed Salah has been the subject of speculation regarding a potential transfer to the Saudi Pro League, yet he has consistently turned down the league’s enticing offers.

Since joining Anfield in 2017, Salah has netted over 200 goals for Liverpool, establishing himself as the club’s all-time leading scorer in the Premier League.

In other news, Bakayoko had an impressive season with PSV, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists in 48 appearances, leading to a valuation of approximately £40 million.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool’s initial offer of £34 million was turned down by the Dutch club, and there is a belief that Bakayoko could be groomed as Salah’s eventual successor.

Ahead of Liverpool’s opening match of the season against newly-promoted Ipswich Town, Slot commented: “As a club of our stature, we are always exploring opportunities to enhance the squad.

However, strengthening the team is not straightforward, as evidenced by both matches today.

I have previously stated that I have inherited a very strong team, and if we see a viable opportunity, we will look to bolster the squad. But only if we believe it is feasible.”
