Arne Slot expresses concern over Joe Gomez’s injury status, adding to Liverpool’s defensive challenges.

Arne Slot raises alarms regarding Joe Gomez’s injury, presenting yet another issue for Liverpool’s defense.

During Liverpool’s 5-0 victory against West Ham United in the Premier League, defender Joe Gomez was forced to leave the pitch due to injury, prompting an update from Arne Slot regarding the England international’s condition.

Slot indicated that Gomez is expected to be out for “quite a bit” following the injury sustained during the match.

“There are nine games scheduled for January, including the first of February, which may not be in January, but you understand my point,” Slot remarked to Sky Sports after the game.

“Once again, we witnessed an injury to Joe Gomez.”

He added, “It will take some time before he returns. I cannot specify the duration, but he will be unavailable for a significant period. Such situations can arise throughout a season.

There is still a long way to go, but we had a very strong first half.”

Currently, Liverpool is also missing Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley, while Kostas Tsimikas, who stepped in for Andy Robertson late in the game, is still regaining his full fitness.

Jarell Quansah replaced Gomez and may be called upon for the upcoming match against Manchester United.

Regarding Konate and Bradley, Slot provided an update prior to the West Ham encounter, stating, “They will not be available for the match against West Ham.”

He added, “There is a week before the game against Manchester United, so we will see how close they are to returning by then. It is challenging to provide a timeline at this moment since they are not yet training with the team.”
