Arne Slot calls out Konaté’s performance, indicating that he may not recall the moment we gave up a goal…

Arne Slot criticizes Konaté’s performance, suggesting he may have overlooked the moment the team conceded.

The saying goes that goals come in clusters, and this certainly rings true for Ibrahima Konaté, who has now scored twice in his last three matches for Liverpool.

His previous goal was during the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City in April 2022, followed by an equalizer at the San Siro in Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Milan, and most recently, he netted the first goal at Molineux.

However, he also had a significant miscommunication with goalkeeper Alisson, as both failed to react to a loose ball, allowing Wolves to equalize.

Despite this setback, Konaté appeared unfazed and expressed in a post-match interview with Sky Sports that he believed his performance warranted the Man of the Match title.

When asked to present the award to teammate Ryan Gravenberch, whose form has been improving under manager Arne Slot, Konaté humorously questioned the decision.

“Sky Sports – who determines the Man of the Match?” he joked. “How can this be? It’s my brother; I should give it to him.

“I scored against Milan, I scored today, I made a couple of saves, and I didn’t earn it?! What’s going on? You need to speak with them; I have no idea who made that call.”

Upon learning that the decision was made by former Manchester United player and pundit Gary Neville, Konaté simply shook his head.

Gravenberch, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude to Neville for the recognition.

Later, manager Arne Slot shared his thoughts on Konaté’s comments during his own Sky Sports interview, acknowledging the defender’s belief that he deserved the Man of the Match award.

It is possible that he overlooked the moment we allowed a goal to be scored; it appeared as though he was absent from the situation. To put it mildly, it was a situation that could have been prevented.

While the manager maintained a cheerful demeanor, it is reasonable to acknowledge that he did not appear entirely satisfied with Konaté’s error. The importance of shielding the ball will likely be a focal point during training this week.
