Insider provides significant updates on Saka and Calafiori’s injuries ahead of the match against Liverpool.

Bukayo Saka is anticipated to be fit for Arsenal’s pivotal Premier League encounter with Liverpool, while Riccardo Calafiori is scheduled for a scan today, according to insider Sam Cohen.

Saka sustained a hamstring injury during the international break, which caused him to miss the recent match against Bournemouth. However, he is reportedly in contention to regain fitness in time for the Sunday fixture.

The 23-year-old has made an impressive start to the season, contributing seven assists and scoring twice in his seven Premier League outings, in addition to finding the net against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Saka was absent from the squad during Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday, having missed training the day before.

On the other hand, Calafiori exited the match in the second half after appearing to twist his right knee, prompting Mikel Arteta to express concern about his condition post-game.

The Italian defender, who has been a regular starter in Arsenal’s last seven matches, is now set for further assessment ahead of the Liverpool clash.

His potential absence would be another setback for the Gunners, who are already facing a challenging situation with a reduced squad.

Captain Martin Odegaard and defenders Jurrien Timber and Takehiro Tomiyasu are all currently sidelined due to injuries.

While Timber and Tomiyasu have no defined return dates, Odegaard is expected to make a full recovery by mid-November after suffering an ankle injury during a Nations League match against Austria last month.

Arteta has expressed confidence that Odegaard will return before the November international break and noted that the Norwegian is feeling ‘frustrated and desperate’ to get back on the pitch.

As the Gunners prepare for a home match against Liverpool, they aim to recover in the Premier League after suffering a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth, which marked the end of their unbeaten streak this season.
