Arsenal’s £30m player put on a ‘spectacular’ performance against Brighton, according to Alan Smith.

The Gunners have reclaimed the top spot in the Premier League table following their victory over Brighton in the late Saturday kick-off.

The current Premier League title race is one of the most thrilling in recent years, with the top position constantly changing hands.

At the start of the week, Arsenal were in second place, then moved to the top on Wednesday night, only to be overtaken by Liverpool the following day.

Arsenal secured a convincing 3-0 victory against Brighton. The Gunners took the lead in the 33rd minute with a penalty kick converted by Bukayo Saka.

They further extended their advantage in the 62nd minute with a goal from Kai Havertz. Finally, Leandro Trossard sealed the win in the 86th minute by chipping the ball over the Brighton goalkeeper.

In the 33rd minute, Arsenal took the lead with a penalty kick after Tariq Lamptey fouled Gabriel Jesus. Bukayo Saka confidently converted the penalty, sending Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen in the wrong direction.

Arsenal further increased their advantage in the 62nd minute when Jorginho provided a precise assist for the in-form Kai Havertz to score. Finally, in the 86th minute, Leandro Trossard, who previously played for Brighton, sprinted towards the goal after receiving a pass from Havertz and skillfully chipped the ball over Verbruggen, securing Arsenal’s third goal.

Arsenal faced some challenges against Brighton, struggling to maintain composure until the second half when the hosts penned them in their own half.

Brighton had a golden opportunity to level the score just before halftime with a powerful shot from Julio Enciso, but David Raya made a remarkable save to deny them.

David Raya’s standout performance in Arsenal’s victory over Brighton impressed Sky Sports pundit Alan Smith, who praised the goalkeeper’s ability to make crucial saves when needed. Smith highlighted the importance of Raya’s save in preventing a potential equalizer for Brighton and keeping Arsenal in the lead.

Raya’s save was a turning point in the match, as it prevented Brighton from scoring and potentially changing the outcome of the game. Arsenal’s luck early in the second half could have been different if Brighton had capitalized on their chances.

Arsenal secured a successful outcome, earning three points and maintaining their goal difference. They currently lead the Premier League with 71 points and will face Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final first leg on Tuesday.

Their upcoming Premier League match will be against Aston Villa next Sunday at N5, kicking off at 4:30pm.
