Liverpool fans are in high spirits as Mohamed Salah is reportedly nearing a new two-year contract agreement with the club, following weeks of uncertainty regarding his future.

The team has been performing exceptionally well in the Premier League this season under the management of Arne Slot, achieving 11 victories out of 14 matches thus far.

However, Liverpool experienced a setback on Wednesday night, settling for a 3-3 draw against Newcastle United, while Arsenal and Chelsea now trail the league leaders by seven points.

Slot’s tenure as Liverpool manager has started on a high note, with the team also leading their Champions League group after a recent 2-0 victory over Real Madrid.

Despite the positive on-field performance, there have been some off-field challenges, particularly concerning the contracts of Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, all of whom are set to expire next summer.

The Merseyside Derby against Everton was postponed on Saturday.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Liverpool’s initial offer to Van Dijk did not meet his expectations, but he anticipates that Salah will receive a contract proposal shortly.

Ornstein commented on Sky Sports, stating, “An offer has been made to Virgil van Dijk, but none has been extended to Mo Salah yet. I expect Salah to receive an offer very soon.

The reasons for the delay compared to Van Dijk’s situation may only be clarified by Liverpool themselves.”

He suggested that the club might be prioritizing their captain or that the disparity between Salah’s demands and the club’s offer could be significant enough to warrant caution in approaching him with a proposal.

Regarding Van Dijk, Ornstein noted that discussions have been ongoing, and while an initial offer has been made, it did not meet his expectations, leaving both the value and duration of a potential new deal unresolved for now.

However, this does not preclude the possibility of a resolution in the future.

Fenway Sports Group faces a significant decision regarding their policy of avoiding substantial contracts for players over the age of 30, a category that both individuals fall into.

According to the Daily Mirror, Salah is reportedly close to finalizing a new two-year contract with Liverpool, bringing clarity to the uncertainty surrounding his future.
